    Pros

    good starting salary
    growing company
play all the games for free

    Cons

recently changed ownership- some things not organized
big focus on new locations and growth requires all funds and stores required to operate on minimal budgets so tight that maintenance and cleaning become less priority, product often low
no insurance for 3 months after hired
corporate office not in touch with locations and very little contact or interaction with staff or management

    Recommends

I have been working at Gameworks full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

None. I seriously could not find any pros. Anything I though at one point that was a pro, turned into a con.

    Cons

    Unreasonable, unintelligent goals set
    Terrible work life balance
    low pay scale
    Very demanding superiors
The most successful management within the company was so due to 1 of 2 reasons. They would work 30hrs straight to cover up mistake by their superiors or They take credit for the success of other factors that guarantee success despite who's at the helm of the decision making. Power and Ego are paramount here where the lack of any actual expertise is amazing. This company has filed for bankruptcy twice and will again IMHO.. They follow bad decisions with worse ones and always find a target to blame when things go to pot. In the long run, this only costs them huge dollar amounts. Every moment is spent managing Corporate Perception within the ranks despite the guest experience..

Working for GameWorks was the worst joke I've ever heard.

I have been working at Gameworks full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Easy hours, very lax management in house. Pay was fine for the minimal amount of work needed to be done. In house management had a great level of comradery. This was most likely due to the fact that we bonded over the poor upper management.

    Cons

The boredom, mainly because this company is all but dead. Dave & Busters perfected what GameWorks wishes they could achieve. They want to spend little to no money improving a company that was put together with duct tape, in a sense. Their best decision would be to shut their doors.
Upper management is a complete joke. They are pleasant enough to talk to, but have zero idea what they are doing. They change their mind every other day, and use positively antiquated practices in regards to marketing.
At one point, our particular store was losing 130,000+ a month. The current clientele is trash, and obviously the lack of new, better business that they always talk about chasing reflects the poor management and their decisions.
The servers would walk away with almost no money, and couldn't get shifts because they were constantly trying to cut labor costs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Choose a new concept, instead of continuing on as a trashy Dave & Busters wanna be. The CEO is terrible, and his direct staff reflects that. No real professional should consider working here.

    Pros

Some of the managers are more than willing to share their experiences with you to help you grow.

    Cons

Hourly staff just looked at as a number. Customer is ALWAYS right no matter the situation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember that your staff are the face of your business. Treat them with respect and they will work harder for your goals.

    Pros

The people you work with are amazing. You make good money in the bar (when you have business)

    Cons

Management is incompetent and unfair. They cuss at you and treat you like garbage. The clientele is less than desirable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to get along with and respect eachother as a management team. Treat your frontline employees with respect/dignity that they deserve.

    Worst Management to work for

Former Employee - Banquet Server in Ontario, CA
Former Employee - Banquet Server in Ontario, CA

    I worked at Gameworks

    Pros

The pay as a banquet server is phenominal for the amount of hours worked because you receive an automatic 19% of the total bill for parties of a minimum of $150, with about 4-5 parties per day.

    Cons

The management team is incompetent, but worse when they leave they get replaced by individuals who are just as bad or worse. The disrespect is humiliating and makes you feel less than human to be part of such a company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If Management were to treat their crewmembers as people, they would make a great environment to work in. Unfortunately they don't

Poorly managed from the home office

    Former Employee - Operations Manager

    I worked at Gameworks

    Pros

Fun atmosphere. Pay is above average for the industry, except for servers who rely on tips. There isn't enough business for most servers to make a livable wage. Bartenders do pretty good, but would do better at a night club or chain restaurant.

    Cons

Blame it on the economy or poor management, business is dying fast. Little communication from the home office. Can't seem to find a direction. One day they're focusing on the restaurant and bar, the next they think bringing in new games will drive business. They can't figure out who their target customer is. Store managers believe in the concept, but can't figure out what the home office is thinking most of the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is the service industry. You're front line staff is your most important asset. Treat them as such and you'll get better results.
