I have been working at Gammon India Limited full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good environment, Lot of refreshments. And friendly colleagues.

    Cons

Gave a clerical job which was not suitable for a Civil engineer by cracking the tough interviews. Not entertained to go to field.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management needs to concentrate on all the employes, especially the new ones.

  2. Departments work in distinct silos. HR policies were great at some point but need to keep up.

I worked at Gammon India Limited full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    1) The HR department may have been among the best at one point in the past, but needs bold initiatives to snap out and catch up with the present.
    2) From number 1, the company has fallen several places, but still is counted among the top 10.
    3) Long orientation

    Cons

    1) Accounts and Finance departments are run most unprofessionally.
    2) Departmental heads work in silos. Coordination is not only difficult but also unwelcome.
    3) Highest churn in the recent past because of employee-unfriendly (esp for lower levels) policies and unpaid salaries for several months.
    4) Highest share of revenue still comes from the Government.
    5) Skewed work profiles make the employees easily complacent and unproductive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1) No department alone is good enough to carry the torch. Need to stress on better teamwork and coordination.
    2) Accounts and Finance departments need to be shaken; Integrity and professionalism in these departments needs to drive the others.
    3) High share of revenues from the Govt needs to change; in the backdrop of new private infrastructure players, the company needs to think better brand image, higher speed of execution and emphasis on clean, transparent deals rather than getting the corrupt deals.
