    Great product, no employee loyalty.

    RSM Advertising (Former Employee)
    Chicago, IL

    ProsGreat insurance package, great product

ConsLaid off when sales were up 31% and was replaced with a lower paid title. It's all about the bottom line with Gannett, not their employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe loyal to your profitable employees.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Very disappointed in the playing field not being fair. Old School-no moving into new digital era correctly. Old School.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ProsBenefits, flexibility, great products, stock.

ConsNot micro managed or even managed.

Advice to Senior ManagementReduce your management and level the playing field for all. No raises in 3 years is causing employee moral to suffer.

A once valuable product going downhill quickly

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Hoffman Estates, IL

ProsThere are some talented a people there.

ConsLot's of favoritism and promotion of people who did not have talent or knowledge of the industry.

Advice to Senior ManagementUnderstand your customers needs and the business of healthcare and publishing. Stop promoting and rewarding those who do not have knowledge or talent. Listen to those who may not be as "flashy" or in the "cool" group but who do good work, are professional, honest, thoughtful and willing to disagree with you to maintain the company's and their own professional ethics.

What a wonderful company to work for

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat people. Dedicated staff. Very knowledgeable professionals. Lots of diversity and cause marketing. Great work life balance. Management team is very driven and focused on growth. I enjoy working with nurses to provide even better healthcare.

ConsI presently don't see any downside. I'm very happy to work here.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the good job. Looking forward to a great 2013 and beyond.

ProsIt was a job and that's all I can say about it.

ConsManagement completely ignored requests from employees about having 40 hours returned.

    Don't work here

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsIt's really difficult to come up with pros about this company. Other than it's a job that has benefits. That's all I can think of.

ConsWhen the recession hit people were laid off, so when they said they were going to cut our hours from 40 a week to 35 I was fine with it, I still had a job. We were told that when we started making a profit again that we'd be given those 40 hours back. Gannett Healthcare Group has been making a profit for over a year now. People are being hired left and right, small companies are being acquired, yet they refuse to return hourly workers back to 40.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop lying to your employees. If you're going to tell them you're going to do something, then do it. But don't say one thing and do another. It's very disrespectful.

    Overall, a good group

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe people are unbelievably caring and collegial -- perhaps the nicest bunch of people you will ever work with. In addition, most of the group is mission-focused in their goal to improve nurses' knowledge and patient care in a variety of health settings. Gannett still has an active pension plan, too -- a rarity these days.

ConsThe pay scale runs a bit low, and some departments are underappreciated. Overall, morale is about average. Managers are caring but not always aware of all the contributions and needs of their staff. And sometimes the company (like many others) is penny wise but pound foolish, and some needed purchases don't get made, or made soon enough.

Advice to Senior ManagementTo better recognize and nurture the passion in your existing workforce. There's a lot of talent and caring amid the ranks.
