    Pros

Friendly coworkers, good environment, good management, fast paced and eventful most days. Slow when busy bring in shipments. Nice clothes and accessories.

    Cons

Was the only male so constantly had to do much of the grunt work. Females assumed they could boss around and take positions whenever.

    Advice to Management

Hire more males, don't assume everyone is having a fantastic time. Students have work to do outside of just working, be nice.

    Pros

Gap has a great way of hiring and promoting great people, and co-workers are typically enjoyable to work with. The discount is very nice to have, if used correctly.

    Cons

it's retail, so the job is boring and repetitive, the customers are awful, and the pay is so low that the employee discount barely helps if you're trying to use the money to actually live on. It also takes forever to get promoted to any sort of authority position. Also, the stores are given goals based upon the same day sales of the year before, which is ridiculous given the fluctuations in foot traffic based upon holidays and events.

    Advice to Management

Keep the hiring process, up the hours each store is allowed so that they won't be so understaffed, and re-consider the store displays to make them more-shopper (and employee) friendly.

    Pros

    Great coworkers
    Yearly raises
    Amazing employee discount
    Great Energy

    Cons

    Terrible chances at advancement
    Dress code favors smaller bodies

    Advice to Management

Passive aggressiveness isn't always the best way to go.
Also, be fair in decision making. We may not say anything, but we notice.

I worked at Gap (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people, fun days and nights, great quality clothes, they train you as long as you ask, transfer you upon request

    Cons

Gap Cards, dust, some customers, pay was very low starting out

    Advice to Management

Train people quickly so you'll always have people that can work different positions rather than having one person just do this and another just do that.

    Pros

Balanced living, no overtime. I generally like my peers, we watch out for each other and show up for each other.

    Cons

The unofficial motto in our store is 'do more with less.' We are constantly working with less payroll then we should to offer the kind of customer service they would like us to provide for our customers.

    Advice to Management

Take action when you say you want to grow your team and promote from within. Offer trainings, mentorship, leadership meetings, etc.

    Pros

Great people to work with. Loved the 50% off discount and additional benefits. If you love to talk to and help people this is a great job. Very flexible schedule.

    Cons

As a part timer and going to school at the same time there is really no cons.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

    Pros

The benefits are great. The people that have the same title as you are cool.

    Cons

Hours get cut, They are closing full retail stores saying its good for their future. they constantly push the Gap card, Management doesn't listen to you, no room for advancement. Over worked and too many tasks from many managers in the morning. constant change in floor plan and so much shipment the back stock won't even hold it anymore. One manager says they are exempt from being late because she is management. the pay is awful compared to management.

    Advice to Management

Don't take credit from the specialists work. Listen.

    I worked at Gap

    Pros

I loved the working environment. I had great bosses and they always worked around my schedule while in school.

    Cons

There were some long days during the holidays. I missed out on some family functions due to work but that's with any job.

    Advice to Management

Continue to support and enrich the culture of Gap. It's a great place to work, and I'll always be a loyal customer. Great jeans!
