    Pros

the discount at gap, banana, old navy,

    Cons

you basically were cut hours if you couldn't sell enough gap cards, and then when you finally showed up for your first shift in a week that is only 4.5 hours long, they'd expect you to sell all 12 gap cards that is required of employees in a week. The management did not care about how tidy an associate could keep the store, or how personable they could be with the customers and their kids, it was only about gap cards.

    Advice to Management

don't base your employees worth and their hours based on how many company credit cards they can sell. the economy sucks as it is, a lot of people aren't going to open them, or a lot of people are regulars who already have one. Praise your employees when they still do a good job in other areas.

    Pros

Fishkill, NY - Good pay and benefits and good discounts at Old Navy, Gap, and Banana Republic. Great company to work for, but not under Fishkiill, NYs current leadership team.

    Cons

Fishkill, NY - No work life balance, and they always look to do more with less. Managers delegate instead of chipping in to get something done or to fix an issue. Managers work their 9am-5pm while the Supervisors are working 10-12 hours every day with coming into work by 4am for 1st shift and staying until 1:45am on 2nd shift. Management team retaliates, and if they have an issue with you, they will make sure to get you out instead of working with you to correct the issue. Great company, but bad leadership at the Gap in Fishkill, NY. No loyalty with their team to build them for the next level. They rather hire from the outside make everyone disgruntled.

    Advice to Management

Fishkill, NY - Everyone needs to contribute to the operation and overall cost. Too much is relied on just the Supervisor's. Management forgets the word TEAM, and delegates everything to the Supervisor team while they sit in their offices. Management doesn't build their bench strength. They rather hire from the outside instead of building their team from the inside. No loyalty.

    Pros

I enjoyed being able to work while in school, and gap was flexible around my class schedule. I enjoyed being able to work on the floor and engage with customers. We had a pretty big store, and I liked working in a team environment.

    Cons

There is a lot of pressure to make daily goals, and on the days when we didn't meet our goals it could affect our future shifts. Overnights were also difficult and unorganized!

    Advice to Management

Take time to invest in your management. Excessive employee turnover can be detrimental.

    Pros

Gap Inc. is an amazing company to work for. The benefits are solid and everyone from General Managers at the store through corporate headquarters care so much about their employees. The discounts really help you build a solid and professional wardrobe. The company values each individual. Best company that I have worked for in retail.

    Cons

The time off policies are a little upsetting. You get your schedule week to week and you must ask off the Sunday before. It's hard to balance when emergencies come up and you have to find someone to cover.
