I worked at Garden Ridge part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I liked the employee discount. But that's pretty much it. No good perks of working here. No excitement what so ever

    Cons

Store always looked to physically be falling apart. The cash register system looked to be from the 80s
Corporate never had interest in updating anything. Was sick ONE work day with the swine flu and had to call of, had someone deliver the doctors excuse to the store for me. But was terminated for calling off reguardless

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Update your stores and systems!

I worked at Garden Ridge full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Depending on location you may have mandatory overtime and that money is nice. Decent benefits and discount.

    Cons

Difficult to become full time. There are no original employees left at the location I worked for and the store is only 2 years old.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to be aloud to actually manage the store and it's employees. Too much micro managing from corporate.

I have been working at Garden Ridge part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Honestly, the people i work with excluding management, and the employee discount. Which is 25% off. Easy place to work for.

    Cons

Management falls apart. Managers throwing employees under the bus. Scheduling is messed up. Some weeks you get decent hours, others you get maybe 15hrs that week. Management only cares about themselves. They tell you no phones on the floor yet they are on the phone with friends. Can't voice your opinion because they don't listen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to treat your employees with respect. You hired us and we can ruin you easily. Talk to your employees and stop talking behind your employees backs. Learn better customer service. Walmart has better service than you guys.

I worked at Garden Ridge full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

flexible schedule, friendly Management, and good stable company.

    Cons

Limited growth, management slow to move, advancing technically is limited as there is no time assigned for learning.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to recommendations from your team lead and be open to new ideas. Don't second guess your team. Support the same ideas across the entire team. Learn who knows what, instead of pointing the finger at someone for something they did not do.

    Pros

Good people to work with, nothing too difficult

    Cons

I would highly advise not to think of making a career out of working at a store because many people get trapped working there, however it's a good part-time job.

    Pros

They really try to work with your schedule. It is a decent job if you are trying to go to school. The pay is also decent.

    Cons

The new switch over is getting ridiculous. They put people on freight who should not be there and looked over people who deserved a promotion.
