I have been working at Gardenvision Merchandising part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good exercise Learn about plants Co-workers tend to be nice

    Cons

Lowes is a very negative environment to work in...maybe it's all retail, but you have to have broad shoulders to just take pride in what you're doing and realize the management doesn't understand your job, nor are they going to compliment you in any way...at least not the one I work at! They'll just find fault and you have to find it in yourself to let it roll off.

    Advice to Management

Be nice. Compliment when compliments are deserved. Gardenvision management is awesome!!! It's the stores they service that are likely hit and miss as far as any shred of compassion.

I have been working at Gardenvision Merchandising part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Hours are flexible, work with plants, decent pay for the area. Meet and work with great people from all over.

    Cons

Dead end job. Been with the company 8 years and still in the same position. Hard manual labor in the spring season. Have to work in extreme weather conditions, cold, really hot and rain.

    Advice to Management

Notice your dedicated employees and promote them, or you will lose them. Train your new hires better. Lose the cap... We deserve a raise after we hit the cap for the hard work and dedication.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Gardenvision Merchandising (Less than a year)

    Pros

Spring hours are 40 Straight starting at 9.50 hourly from March-May. Outdoors is nice in the fall and winter months.

    Cons

Hours drop significantly down to 20-26 hours in the off season. Working outdoors can be problematic when it rains or temps exceed 90°. Pay is not enough for the amount of work to be done. Supposed to be a "help and assist" for garden center employees but you are pretty much the only one that stocks new plants correctly. Lazy Lowe's employees not much help if any at all.

    Advice to Management

Need to pay much more and offer better health insurance. Also not fair for supervisors to come in and deduct from your hours. The "shared" hours is ludicrous! Supervisor should not deduct my hours just to critique and do paperwork or sit in their car in the parking lot for hours and not even touch a single plant at all.

I worked at Gardenvision Merchandising full-time

    Pros

Great company! Decent pay, make your own schedule for the most part!

    Cons

The store thinks you're their employee, not a contractor. They think they are your boss.

    Advice to Management

When I worked for gardenvision, management was stretched a little thin or spent too much time in one store and not others.

I worked at Gardenvision Merchandising full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working outside, minimal supervision. It's nice dealing with plants in the sunshine. Bad when it's raining.

    Cons

Early hours. Bad weather can make the work unpleasant.

    Pros

The hours are flexible, with most weekends off. The Lowe's associates are friendly, at least most of them. You get to work outside.

    Cons

You have to deal with extreme temperatures. Some of Lowe's management wants you to do things that you're not allowed to.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is to monitor the supervisors and make sure that they are doing what they are supposed to be doing, also. Some of them yell at you, lie to your face, and have their favorites. Rules should apply to everyone, not to certain individuals.

    Pros

It was a great job.I enjoyed working outside and the limited supervision was nice.

    Cons

Pay is decent if you are a retiree.hours cut back to much in winter and they don't have overtime in the spring. Lots of turn over and not much room to move up.

    Advice to Management

Train the young guns better with time management and priorities.
