  1. Within the last couple years it has turned into a very narrowminded company.

I worked at Gardner Denver full-time

    Pros

Most of the time pays well

    Cons

They do not treat their employees like human beings. The HR department is severely lacking in common sense. They have a lot of turnover since they moved to Bentleyville.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

treat your employees like humans not like working mules

I worked at Gardner Denver full-time

    Pros

Great co-workers. Everyone is willing to share information and help one another.

    Cons

If your a person of color there is very little opportunity for advancement. This is a white male dominated environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recruit at minority job fairs, have more minorities in senior positions, and have more respect for your current employees. Do not be intimidated by diversity, but embrace it. Get rid of the good ole boys and bring in people with more forward thinking. Stop hiring and promoting based on looks.

I worked at Gardner Denver full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great team of people, company with a long history of reliable products that is sinking because of corporate greed.

    Cons

Employees are running away faster than rats from the sinking ship. Senior leadership and HR are trying to stop this but the trust is lost. Administrative overhead is increasing while HR service is reduced.

I have been working at Gardner Denver full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Company with a large global footprint and very proud history. With the recent change in leadership, this proud ship is sinking fast.

    Cons

It is obvious that the new leadership doesn't care about the company and is only interested in selling Gardner Denver for a quick buck. Larsen and his cronies will cash in big time and will not have to work another day in their lives, while the other 7000 employees will be left jobless. So sad.

I worked at Gardner Denver as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Global reach, industry leader, great mission statement

    Cons

Corporate culture is a "good old boy" network. Extremely top-down flow of information. Disregard for the needs of workers is endemic to the corporation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow information to flow freely in all directions - up, down, and laterally. This will spark innovation and reduce talent loss.

    I worked at Gardner Denver

    Pros

-- The international nature of the businesses makes it complex, but also interesting.
-- The diversity of products and customers served provides employees a wide variety of areas in which they can excel.

    Cons

-- The focus on reducing compensation and benefits in all areas outside the executive suite can make for a tough environment in which to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to use the really great Gardner Denver Way internal business system to leverage the company's synergies proactively with organic growth through customer-driven innovation excellence.
