    Pros

Work life balance for where I am in life right now is amazing. Garmin encourages a healthy balance. Truly appreciate that about Garmin.

    Cons

Extremely conservative senior management means we're usually a little late to the game. But we make up for it typically in execution.

    Pros

The 401k matching is really terrific, and the health insurance options are very nice. The people here are very nice, and most of them are very helpful with any questions. The hours are flexible (work extra one day to leave early another, start anytime between 7-9 and work until 4-6, etc.), which makes it much easier to take a little time off at odd times for family and such. The atmosphere is very relaxed aside from some times around deadlines. No parking hierarchy, just first-come, first-served for parking spots (and there is even a parking garage). They allow short notice for time off, though they prefer at least a week or so.

    Cons

Many positions sort of expect more than 40 hours per week, though it isn't explicitly required.

    Pros

Best benefits around. Employer paid health, dental, and vision insurance, 401k match and pension, and stock purchase plan.

    Cons

Low pay compared to every other company around. No room to advance. If you aren't an engineer you don't matter. A lot of micro-management at all levels of the company.

    Advice to Management

Trust the mid-level managers so you don't have to micro-manage every aspect of the organization. Keeping non-engineers happy is important too.

    Pros

Employee discount, benefits, and your co-workers (most) are good to work with. Supervisors Not so much!

    Cons

Supervisors do not take escalated phone calls from Customers, they will expect for you to do your best. Even if they demand a supervisor they make you transfer to voicemail. They expect you to treat the Customer with loyalty and respect but yet they cannot treat their own employee's with a positive attitude! Pay is not worth what the job details intake. No advancements.

    Advice to Management

Wish everyone was on the same exact same page. Stay true and positive to employees.

    Pros

Great Products. Great People. There is a lot of opportunity here and a lot of great people who have good character, work hard, and are friendly.

    Cons

No significant cons with Garmin. They are a great company and have been a blessing to work for and develop a career with.

    Pros

Great coworkers. Highly skilled subset of people within. Good benefits

    Cons

Not much available for advancement. A lot of hoops to go through to get to the next level of your job, some unobtainable because of the length of project time and time of year advancements go through. Raises are laughable at best, and have rarely beat inflation.

    Advice to Management

Bonuses, better advancement/recognition, these things will greatly improve morale. A lot of the time it feels like you're looking through rose colored glasses at the rest of us.

    Pros

Well respected company in both the community and the industry.

    Cons

No equal treatment by management. What's ok for one associate to do is not ok for another. One associate can be habitually late for work (30 to 90 minutes late every day) yet others are asked to make up time if they want to leave 30 minutes early for a doctor's appointment.

    Advice to Management

Be fair and be equal. 90% of the jobs in IT could be done from home - yet there are only a select few that are allowed to work from home - seemingly when ever they want. I think management needs to reconsider its stance on "what's fair isn't always what's equal". If things aren't equal (relatively speaking) - they are never going to be fair. Associates being given special treatment causes resentment among other associates.

    Pros

Relaxed atmosphere. Some of the greatest, friendliest and smartest people you'll find in the Midwest. Awesome benefits. Advancement opportunities for lower end employees.

    Cons

HR and red tape. We have lost too many talented people because of minimalist raises that left too many people on the lower end of the pay scale compared with other employers. A "decent" raise is 3.5% while the average inflation is 4%.

    Advice to Management

From a business standpoint they've got a great grasp on where the company needs to go. From a personnel standpoint see my above comment. An employees pay trends downward compared with inflation and is really half what it should be to retain employees.
