    Pros

High investment in employees in terms of training/continuing education, very professional organizational culture, very merit-based.

    Cons

They tell new hires they "never have laid anyone off" but that is not true (anymore, at least), most of EPS Academy was hiring-related paperwork and training, whole firm takes itself a little too seriously and for this reason is the butt of some jokes within executive protection community.

    Advice to Management

I got laid off- before working a single shift- with minimal explanation after a very long hiring process and signing hiring offer. I had graduated EPS only a week before. That is not fair to employees.

    Pros

Easy physical. They were pretty fast at getting back to you.

    Cons

Hard to contact HR during the selection process.

The worst security firm to work for. Check out Pinkerton or SISS instead.

I worked at Gavin de Becker full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Looks good on a resume. That's about it.

    Cons

-Leadership has absolutely no managerial skills and very little experience in the private sector. Prepare to be micro-managed to a ridiculous and insulting degree. They literally have cameras spying on you while you work (supposedly for your safety, but actually to ensure you don't fall asleep on the job). -Boring. Expect to be sitting in a CC (command center) for your entire career, staring at video monitors. Don't be fooled by their website--actual EP details are few and far between. -Crappy pay. Salaries are based on a 48-hour work week, so if they start you at $50,000 a year, that includes eight hours of overtime every week, so you're actually making in the mid-forties. -Crappy hours. Four 12-hour shifts is the minimum, but expect to constantly be guilt tripped into working shifts last minute. You'll be working days and nights within the same week all the time. -Employees are all miserable. I didn't know anyone who liked working there, and every former employee I know hates the company. The attrition rate is off the charts, which is why they're always desperate for new hires. Why else would a supposedly elite security firm advertise on Craigslist and Monster.com? -No room for advancement. Contrary to what their website claims, there are over 200 SSAs and very few management positions. Do the math. -When I was there the health benefits sucked.

    Advice to Management

The company needs a complete overhaul. This will never happen, because the ten or so people at the top are making well into six figures. What do they care if everybody else is miserable? The chickens have come home to roost, though. The quality is no longer there, the company's reputation is tarnished, and they've been losing high-profile clients every year.

I have been working at Gavin de Becker full-time

    Pros

Chill job. Able to work on school on night shift.

    Cons

Long hours. Don't see my wife hardly. Pay is not that great.

    Advice to Management

Pay the employees better and there would no be a high attrition rate.
