    Pros

Management for the most part is open with their staff. The property provides free luck to their employees.

    Cons

The merger with Marriott brought in new systems which completely changed the way that every-day duties were handled.

I have been working at Gaylord Entertainment full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pay is good (for now), Generally a fun place to work, Discounts at other hotels, Hotel generally tries to treat employees well

    Cons

A new managment company (gaylord doesn't own this company anymore, not sure if the CEO listed is still in charge) is taking this place in a very troubling direction, new positions coming in paying less than current employees which probably means cuts down the road, poor benefits pkg, career opportunities will be limited, very poor work/life balance, disconnect with Senior Mgmt., unreasonable goals and demands

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get back to what made this hotel great - taking care of the employees

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Gaylord Entertainment full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Good people on the front lines
    Decent insurance
Discounted tickets to the Grand Ol' Opry, General Jackson
Employee discount at Bass Pro Shop

    Cons

Middle management that does not portray what's actually going on
    Lack of training opportunities
    Favoritism run amok
Very cliquish groups at the back of the house

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't always listen to your middle managers. They will tell you what they think you want t hear. You need to get down on the front lines and find out what's really going on. Get rid of the favoritism and give more opportunities to move up within the company.

I worked at Gaylord Entertainment part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The money was great most of the time. Employees received a discount on rooms and were able to get in free at the Glass Cactus. You were surrounded by an eclectic mix of individuals from all over the world. The food was impeccable.

    Cons

When you deal with such a large company, there is bound to be head-butting and gossip. The waiters and support staff did not respect upper management and upper management did not always conduct themselves appropriately. During certain times of the year a less than desired consumer base would descend upon the hotel (red hat society, ICE tourists).

    I worked at Gaylord Entertainment

    Pros

Free company cafeteria, free dry cleaning for salaried employees, benefits package is fair. Great work culture, very people centric.

    Cons

Management tends to hire as if in triage, due to the pro employee culture sub par employees tend to be kept on. There is also a tinge of nepotism. Company is triangular in power structure so don't expect much cross-training or professional skill development outside of hospitality specific functions.
