Kemp Gallineau
Former Employee – worked at Gaylord Palms Resort full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Fair compensation; limitless growth opportunities; available tools and resources; management open door policy; teamwork; true stream towards flawless service both to employees and customers!
Cons – The company is now bought off by Marriott - It was communicated from trusted sources that the employment satisfaction is dropping, the standards are back to the basics... Although I understand that any transition is hard, it does seem that the (negative) impact is quite profound both in technical and HR terms... Too sad indeed. I am still recommending this employer as I am in hopes that things will improve eventually...
Advice to Senior Management – Just stick to the Gaylord Vision Statement and don't let your employees turn into Marriott provider-robots!

Former Employee – worked at Gaylord Palms Resort full-time for less than a year
Pros – The benefits are great, because it's a Marriott company. Medical Insurance; uniforms dry-cleaned free; discount car care; convenience store with at-cost things like milk, bread, eggs, sandwiches, and sushi; fitness center.
Cons – Terribly understaffed at the restaurant I cooked in, resulting in huge staff turnover. Significant raises don't happen. Benefits promised (car care, fitness center, convenience store) were only open from 9-to-5 staff, so only the "suits" were able to use them.
Advice to Senior Management – Increase the number of culinarians to stop bleeding staff. And if you see staff leaving en masse, for heaven's sake, find out why!

Current Employee – been working at Gaylord Palms Resort full-time for more than a year
Pros – They work with schedule fairly well
Cons – Expect to be overworked and underpaid. Schedule is week by week (Sat-Fri) but we don't usually see it until Thursday night, making it very difficult to plan your week. Managers play favorites hard, if you are wanting to work here, prepare to suck up to the managers for the first few months and you'll be fine.

Pros – Like any hospitality job this is a 24/7 operation, but they give great benefits like time off
The culture is truly what sets this hotel apart from others.

Management withholds a healthy amount of industry knowledge
Pay is not the best

Former Employee – worked at Gaylord Palms Resort part-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Beautiful property
A lot of space to work in
Wonderful and dedicated lower level employees
Cons – Unless you are part of the social club you will not be accepted and will be encouraged to keep quiet, regardless of having good ideas or not
Does not reward for hard work and discourages growth
Has no regard for personal life and pushes limits (or might even go over them)
Speaks a lot about what they do for employees as far as communication and benefits but that priveledge is only for leaders
Advice to Senior Management – Remember that your job is not the number one priority in life but when you are there, you should be the best person you could be and look out for the company and not only yourself.

Former Employee – worked at Gaylord Palms Resort as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – There is an amazing company culture with a dedication to work/life balance. They have a friendly family-like atmosphere. I would come back to work on a permanent basis without question. I enjoyed all the people on my team.
Cons – There is a 1/4 mile walk from the employee entrance to the accounting office--which has no window. It's kind of like being in a cave.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the good work! Don't let anything change the corporate culture.
