I have been working at Geary LSF full-time

    Pros

Geary LSF does a great job of hiring genuinely intelligent, innovative people. I am consistently pleasantly surprised and inspired by the work that we do, and the ideas that team members contribute. Learning and personal growth are encouraged within the company through a variety of resources and internal meetings, which keeps employees engaged and up-to-speed on recent developments within the industry: crucial skills for digital marketing. More so, Geary LSF really operates as a team-- there's frequent, productive communication across departments. I can honestly say that I really enjoy being at work every day. Work hard, play hard-- it's a motto that definitely applies around here

    Cons

As with any agency, when things get busy, they get REALLY busy. Work has to get done; so you can't always just check out at 5 every day. Everyone handles stress differently, but for the most part, people buckle down during crunch time and get things done efficiently.

    Advice to Management

We've started doing this more lately, but individual recognition from superiors goes a long way, especially as we continue to grow as a company.

I have been working at Geary LSF full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working with such highly intelligent and hardworking group motivates me every day to try harder and do better. As a result, I’ve learned and grown as a digital marketer more than I could have ever imagined in the year and eight months that I’ve work at Geary LSF. My peers are amazing mentors and management constantly provides opportunities to learn more and get involved in projects outside our comfort zone so that we can diversify our skills. Management is in reaching distance and they care about your concerns. There is no company that you are going to get exactly what you want 100% of the time, but here you can at least count on management to listen and try to find a solution that works for everyone. When listing the pro's of Geary LSF, you certainly can't forget the people. Working with people that you can count on and know they care about their job makes coming to work every day more enjoyable. While friendships come pretty natural here, Geary LSF encourages employees to hangout by organizing scavenger hunts, baseball games, parties and more. I don’t think you will find a more fun or inviting group of people to work with.

    Cons

Advancement is largely dependent on years in your role but they offer plenty of opportunity to challenge yourself in your current position so you can grow as an individual.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, your employees see and appreciate the efforts you are putting in to make Geary LSF a leader in the industry and an enjoyable place to work.

    Pros

Working at Geary has been amazing. It’s constantly challenging and you’re provided the mentorship necessary to grow your skill set. This is especially important in digital marketing when things are constantly changing. Every day I am learning new concepts and strategies which I can hold onto for my entire career. With its supportive culture, Geary is a great place to be for anyone trying to expand into the digital marketing space. I’ve been thrilled with my experience at Geary and look forward for everything to come!

    Cons

Rapid pace. But that’s due to the nature of digital marketing. New betas are always coming out and it can get hectic with the marketing space changing. However, this gives you a great opportunity to grow and allows you to get more exposure into every aspect of digital marketing.

I worked at Geary LSF full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Since I first started working at the San Diego office three years ago, Geary LSF has made great strides. Processes have been firmed up, robust professional development programs have been put into place, and the few weak links I knew of have moved on. I’ve personally worked with over half of the 80+ people in the San Diego office and I have a lot of respect for everyone—they’re passionate about what they do, they work hard, and they’re just good people. A huge plus of working at Geary is that they have an awesome professional development program called Geary LSF University. Throughout the year, courses are offered by team leads in each department—paid media, analytics, web development, etc. It’s a great way to get exposure to the wide range of subjects in digital marketing, and stay on top of always-evolving trends. I definitely found it helpful to build up my own skill set and make strategic recommendations to clients. The company culture is work-hard, play-hard. To balance out some of those late nights and skipped lunches, there’s a spirit committee that puts on fun little events throughout the year—some of which included round-the-world potlucks, treasure hunts through downtown, karaoke, and a party-bus brewery tour. And of course lots of lunches and happy hours for birthdays. I appreciated the effort made to make everyone feel valued, and feel part of a community. Pay and benefits are competitive, and there are good growth opportunities. A lot of the people I worked with, who were actually dedicated and had some patience, received promotions. Hard work and contributions were recognized by management. Bottom line, I would not hesitate in saying that Geary is one of the best agencies in San Diego. Compared with smaller agencies, it’s more stable and has many more professional development opportunities in place. And compared with other large agencies, Geary has a fun atmosphere, and although there are going to be some late nights, it’s no sweatshop.

    Cons

If you had asked me two years ago, I might some cons to list. The company went through a couple of mergers and acquisitions and there was a transitional period, but at this point the company has solid processes and strong leadership in place.

    Pros

    The money is good.

    Cons

Absolutely the most cliquish place I have ever worked for - I have really never seen more back-stabbing among adults. Seriously. It would be nice to be able to relax, and feel as though I was among friends, but no - one can never really relax.

    Advice to Management

You are trying hard - but what you get is only surface. Career opportunities are only for a select few.

I have been working at Geary LSF full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

One of Geary LSF's best qualities is its people; they're experts at their craft, they're willing to share their knowledge with clients and coworkers, and they are approachable and laid back to deal with. This makes for a collaborative work environment where ongoing learning and a contributive approach are commonplace. The new leadership says the company is committed to improving the client experience by investing in its people. This seems to be the case with new company-wide training and onboarding programs and a lot of recent promotions and new personnel teams and task forces being created. I really like that Geary LSF’s industry is always changing and evolving. The speed of change makes it hard to be bored for very long. The company has been improving in adjusting to industry change through the input and ideas of its employees without being too unfocused. They don’t seem to promote on tenure or seniority alone, which I respect. I have been able to achieve my personal growth through working hard, having a specific vision of where I wanted to go in my career, and actively planning with my superiors to make it happen. The pay and benefits are competitive for the most part and perks like food, snacks and team building/company events help keep things light when the workload gets heavy.

    Cons

There can be times when the workload is burdensome. This is an agency though, so that’s part of the industry. It seems leadership are working hard on staffing up and cross-departmental communication to help avoid overworking people. I’ve been able to improve my work/life balance by proactively asking for help and recognizing the need for a vacation or break before I start to burn out.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the positive momentum and the increased communication.
