I have been working at Geneca full-time
Pros – The company has a mentality of letting employees have flexibility as long as they get their work done.
Cons – Executives seem to be a close circle of friends. Get on the bad side of one, and you could be on the bad side of them all. Recent layoffs have been extremely disconcerting.
Advice to Senior Management – Tell employees why someone was fired. Keeping it under wraps and pretending it never happened makes it seem shady and suspicious.

I worked at Geneca
Pros – They hired some of the best people I have ever worked with.
No travel.
Great "story" for the sales team.
Cons – Too much favoritism from senior leaders.
The "favored" project managers were very negative and did not foster team work.
Once the economy improved, they could not hold on to the great people they hired.
Advice to Senior Management – Be more open to diverse opinions or hire only college kids.

I have been working at Geneca
Pros – flexability in almost every respect
pays well
leadership treats you like part of the leadership team
lots of oppurtunity to grow
no one makes commitments for you
Cons – growing very fast, hard to tell where you fit in
bonus structure is evolving
methodology needs to evolve
not a lot of oppurtunity to fill needed leadership positions
Advice to Senior Management – take a good look at the employees you have to fill the leadership positions. Keep a closer eye on new and evolveing technologies. Otherwise keep doing what you are doing.

I have been working at Geneca
Pros – Good pay, good people, good attitude toward employees. All of the aspirations to be a great company are there. Been working for them for the last five years. Small and agile. Not much politicking around, drama, bureaucracy or other things that hinder larger firms.
Cons – Smaller firm, process and the helpful bureaucracy is not there either. Review process, official titles and positions, etc. are all in flux. Benefits could be better.
Advice to Senior Management – I really don't have any advice for the management.

I worked at Geneca
Pros – There are still some great people left in the company. One of the founders is a developer himself.
Cons – Geneca used to be a great company. It was a great place for developers. But at one point the revenues flattened out and sales guy was brought in. He muscled into a managing director role and took over the place. Now morale is down, brown-nosing is rampant, people are scared to speak-up. You get forced out for speaking up. Developers are no longer treated like people. Everyone is disposable. Everyone was also forced on a salary and now are pushed to work extra hours.
Some of the other reviews look like astroturfing.
Advice to Senior Management – Two founders need to regain control of the company and bring back the culture of respect. Long time employees are being forced out of the company. That says something.

I have been working at Geneca
Pros – Geneca has been good to me since day one. I'm very happy with my salary and the way upper management has treated me. I rarely work over 40 hours a week, which is a big improvement from my last company. I've been with Geneca around two years now and they've exceeded my expectations and then some. The people I work with our smart and dedicated to technology, but also cool people, who "get it". I honestly can't see myself being happier somewhere else.
Cons – You have to be up for meeting the challenge. Our work is in no way easy. Geneca's projects are complex and challenging. If you don't feel extremely confident in your development skills than this probably is not the place for you to hang your hat. I see interviews walk in and out of Geneca all day long, very few get the job.
Advice to Senior Management – As with most companies, I see far too many meetings going on, maybe even meetings to discuss the meetings, this slows decisions down to crawl sometimes. Just something that I think could be worked on, but given how much Geneca is growing I do understand why the meetings are taking place.

I have been working at Geneca
Pros – Excellent pay, and given the focus on total project ownership, ample opportunities are given to work on different aspects of the development lifecycle. There is a strong push from management for individuals to move ahead and try new things. There is also broad support for expanding ones skills, both development and consulting.
Cons – The benefits are not as generous as other companies. While the pay is excellent, no over time or comp time is given. Bonuses so far are rather underwhelming.
Advice to Senior Management – Better benefits and some sort of compensation for over time would go along way to moving this company from my current 4.0 review to a 5.0 review.

I have been working at Geneca
Pros – The focus on service to our clients and the quality of the people that work here. The atmosphere is very friendly and supportive. The company provides both technical and professional training and has a very strong focus on growing our own leadership.
Cons – Management has in the past been inconsistent with communicating changes in the approach to our business. While focusing on being fiscally responsible, they sometimes miss the bigger picture on what kind of message their actions send. They have been working on correcting this problem and have put into place new communication vehicles to overcome this.
Advice to Senior Management – Communicate openly and frequently to the organization.

I have been working at Geneca
Pros – They care. Great family/life balance.
Still learning their way - but fairly transparent and they are trying ...
Great passion for doing the right thing - both with employees and customers.
Cons – Being a growing company, things change and everyone can get scared. Keep over-communicating. Keep supporting the people that provide us leadership and communication.
Advice to Senior Management – We made it through the recession. You are changing ownership & management structure. It is unclear why - but more important it's unclear what is changing related to each individual. You say nothing is changing but then share big changes. More clarity and communication would help squash fear.
