Pros
Genearl Dynamics Information Technology offers Competitive Salaries, Great Benefits (including 401K), Legal Services, Advancements in desired career field, and furthering Education.
Cons
Although General Dynamics Information Technology have many benefits as a company, the one thing that I would say that could be possibly a negative is that the salaries are not as competitive as some of the other companies. It is not bad - I would say Satisfactory.
Advice to Senior Management
I think the Management at General Dynamics Information Technology do a very good job as a whole. The only change I can think of is streamline the hiring process.
Pros
Great work/life balance, great benefits, stable job, good resume builder.
Cons
Salary is not the best, zero education assistance even though they advertise that they have it, zero ability for advancement beyond the role you are put in.
Advice to Senior Management
Offer career path opportunities for your employees... especially your on site employees.
Pros
Easy work
Decent benefits (though not great)
Casual Dress
Lax on hours
Some people are great (but are overshadowed by the losers)
Cons
Low Salary
Poor Morale (Everyone seems to be looking for another job probably due to above item)
Raise/promotions are terrible
No vetting of employees (coworkers sometimes are completely incompetent)
Bureaucracy halts progress to a standstill
Performance reviews suck (based on arbitrary goals rather than how much you contribute to the company)
Some communication problems between managers and employees
Advice to Senior Management
Vet your potential employees more...if I don't have to write code, then I worry how easy it is for incompetent losers to get in. Give competetive salaries. Value hard workers and et rid of slackers.
Pros
Pay and hours are normal for the area,. Immediate supervisor is a brilliant leader, who understands getting the job done right, and taking care of his employees
Cons
Every promotion or beneficial transfer I have see has come about through connections within the company. The true travesty of this practice is reflect in the more qualified personal that were passed, or more frequently never looked at.
Advice to Senior Management
The company as a whole is good. The rampant practice of hiring and promoting your friends needs to be reviewed. The frustration with these practices has led to numerous well-trained, valuable employees leaving the company. I will very likely be the next one. Thank You
Pros
Large stable working competitive corporation.
Cons
Limited work roles. Changing guidelines reviews. Mediocre raises. Ever changing continuing education reimbursement criteria. Medial benefits get worse yearly.
Advice to Senior Management
Better employee medical coverage. Bonuses. Diversity of employee roles supporting expanding skill sets and education reimbursement.
Pros
Great salary and benefits package
Cons
Curent poisiton is at a small site with not alot of room for advancement unless i move elsewhere
Pros
Individual teams can have strong leadership, good benefits package, chance for professional growth.
Cons
Limited upward mobility within contracts, the management team working within can be indifferent to individuals needs
Advice to Senior Management
Great company and need to continue to assist employees to growth and show them upward mobility, if desired, paths
Pros
Wide market for positions in various parts of the country and some positions overseas also. Ability to move around if need be.
Cons
Positions are contract based and at the end of the contract they may or may not help place you on another one of their active contracts.
Advice to Senior Management
Could do a better job at placing employees in other vacant positions when their current position is being loss due to contract loss.
Pros
We have the best customers (Soldiers) in the world and get to make a significant impact in the quality of training.
Very customer oriented.
Cons
Contracting can be a very difficult culture in the way of losing contracts ie. jobs.
Lost contract to another company which cut 80 positions and then low balled salaries. Potentially taking 15-20% cut in pay to keep job.
Advice to Senior Management
All my managers and on-site supervisors were some of the best I ever worked with and around. Highly satisfied with communication both up and down. Its a shame the winning contract cut all site supervisors and managers, we had a great team.
Pros
Opportunities available all over the world
Cons
Corporate environment is compartmentalized and stoved piped
Advice to Senior Management
Talk to each other
