    Pros

    Great work-life balance, great people to work with, atmosphere is always changing, never boring

    Cons

    Pay is lower than expected, upper management has no idea what they are doing, very few opportunities for advancement.

    Advice to Management

    Take advice from properties and work with them. Meetings should be used to make a better quarter, not just to make people feel important and then do whatever you want to do,

    Pros

    Good name recognition; overall strong sense of purpose and pride in "righting the ship" following the bankruptcy; no one seems to work much more than a 9-5, so there is a good work-life balance; from a strictly-business point of view, it seems to be headed in the right direction, so long as the long-predicted "death of regional malls" doesn't come to fruition.

    Cons

    The development department is a generally depressing place to work... lot's of bored older people in senior roles who seem tired of putting up with the mud that is slung at them by the company, and lot's of bored younger people who feel held back by the lack of promotability, creativity, and excitement. Seems like the young crowd joined the group to get in to real estate development, but are stuck in largely administrative roles with no career development; executives like the preach the importance of our culture, going as far as throwing million dollar + "culture retreats" for the whole company each year, but then seem to take pleasure in cutting employees down and practicing an extremely closed-door policy... this is particularly true in the development department; pays substantially lower than comparably companies, though the CEO seems to have no shame in taking home a record-setting $22M in 2013.

    Advice to Management

    If culture is so important to your strategy for the company, live by it yourselves... it is not enough to preach it if you've created an environment where people don't find you to be particularly enjoyable people to work for. The frequent CEO emails written by corporate communications team have become a bit of a laughing stock... it means much more if you communicate to employees in a way less reminiscent of a press release.

    Pros

    Good benefits, good pay, good workers.

    Cons

    Many bad upper-level managers trying to climb to the top and advance themselves on the backs of people working for them. The rank & file employees are far more knowledgeable than most of the managers. Ever since the company filed bankruptcy and a new CEO came in a brought all his cronies into manager positions, the company could care less about the employees that actually do the work. There is no clear direction from upper management and the "fire drills" for information or tasks never end. They constantly change their minds what they want, because they don't know what they want.

    Advice to Management

    Promote people into management positions which actually know the job. Value the knowledge of the people who have brought the company to the place where you joined it and started reaping massive benefits from it.

    Pros

    There was growth opportunities in addition to a great work-life balance. Although there were many changes through the years, those qualities were not compromised.

    Cons

    As far as I can tell, there weren't that many cons. However, the uncertainty due to all the changes made working there just a little uncomfortable.

    Pros

    Friendly co-workers. Great work-Life balance. Good benefits. An excellent, phenominal work environment. Extra benefits like subsidized lunches, Summer Fridays, paid volunteer time, community service/social responsibility. Collaborative teams, good HR, people genuinelly care about you there.

    Cons

    Competitive to get into if qualified. But that can be expected in any large, highly networked company as attractive as GGP.

    Pros

    I very much enjoy my position at GGP. But with continuous reorganization within marketing and various members of the managment team giving conflicting direction it can be a very unnerving place to work. There are not clear goals, or is there even a general direction in any aspect regarding marketing. It has been that way for the past 3 years that I can speak for. Your superior will give you direction and then you will be scolded by the CEO on a property visit for simply doing your job. Once upper management changes, I feel that the environment will stabilize. The current CEO did a great job bringing the company out of bankruptcy. But as far as managing people, and marketing in particular, not his strong points.

    Cons

    I would say the cons are the lack of direction, it causes an impossible work environement for those looking to succeed.

    Great values and great people - down-to-earth, mutual, and positive

    Cons

    Recovering from bankruptcy in 2009, rebuilding.
    Would benefit from being more progressive and competitive

    Advice to Management

    Make GGP progressive and uber-green. Recruit the best, focus on the future 20+ years ahead and lead the industry in CSR, energy efficiency, and lower environmental impact.
    Make shopping malls national zero-energy business leaders - provide the example of how it can be done.
    Make your contribution to the retail real-estate sector revolutionary and game-changing for your industry and for the communities you serve.

    Pros

    Company has been through alot of change over past five years which has provided chance to work on challenging projects. Work-life balance is very good; Company is very involved with charitable organizations; Company Has strong values

    Values such as accountability are not always practiced at higher levels of management within the organization; Continual reorganization within groups the past five years; Company does not make employee professional/personal development a priority

    Pros

    Growth opportunity is readily available as well as relocation.

    Cons

    Many obstacles to overcome while trying to accomplish your goals. Over saturated with consulting groups which are paid large fees.

    Advice to Management

    Let loose of the consulting firms and hire smart people to help with IT infrastructure.
