Pros
Work-life balance, compensation package, people, brands
Cons
Bureaucratic, thankless, not challenging, elongated career path
Advice to Senior Management
Re-think the sales career path. Specified time in role for every position for the first 10-12 years of your career is outdated. Opportunity to be more meritocratic.
Pros
Good pay if you really want to work overtime.
Cons
Alot of overtime, and you will get fired for very small things. They know they can kick you out and replace you fast. They are 100% company and .0001% employee.
Advice to Senior Management
Get off the high horse and treat people fair.
Pros
People, development, communities, leadership, transparency, first Wednesday, job rotation, Hispanic community, brands, Amazing HR, facilities, flexibility, benefits, recruitment involvement and much more
Cons
The only potential issue I see are for people who really want marketing experience. At General Mills you will be an amazing business manager and marketing is part of that.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing the great job you have done! Grow the business internationally and make some acquisitions to grow the business and become even better known globally.
Pros
Friendly people
Management committed to managing change
Flexible schedule and good technology in managing employee information
Cons
Promotions are based on Godfather relationships and less likely on merit.
Advice to Senior Management
Open your eyes and look at those talented but less political savvy employees
Pros
I feel there is ample opportunity to develop and progress within the organization. It is also a very stable company that performs year after year and provides great shareholder value.
Cons
At points in time it feels too conservative in the way it goes about doing things. In line with that sometimes I feel like promotions can be stifled because one hasn't served his or her time.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you are doing and keep investing in talent. I truly feel that the company has a great future.
Pros
Great people, I really can't stress it enough. Competent individuals who are willing to help you when you have a question. Also, the benefits are outstanding.
Cons
Advancement is based on your ability to relocate. i believe this is the sole reason people leave (don't want to spend the rest of their lives in Minneapolis). Also a very conservative company, if you don't fit the mold, you won't advance.
Pros
Very stable employment.
Education benefits are very good to have.
Lots of opportunity to learn through projects.
Working in team environment.
Cons
Upward mobility is slow.
Salaries are mid range of competition.
Not all benefits are useful but included in compensation.
Recent college grads are given preference over experienced professionals.
Advice to Senior Management
Remember to value your experienced employees loyalty and reward them for it.
This is a great company and can keep getting better.
Pros
salary, great location, nice people to work with
Cons
no benefits, no new challanges
Advice to Senior Management
give more benefits
Pros
Good career advancement opportunities, plenty of room for improvement in all the plants so you'll get a lot of responsibility
Cons
Plants are not in ideal locations, corporate seems a little out of touch with reality.
Pros
Very collaborative workplace. Minneapolis was a great place during the summer. The work was meaningful. Plenty of activities both in and out of work.
Cons
"Minneapolis nice" didn't understand it until I got there. I prefer more direct communication. Mills has a way of beating around the bush when giving criticism.
