General Mills is generally a good place to work.

    Fcs (Current Employee) Milwaukee, WI

ProsThe people at General Mills are incredibly friendly and genuinely seem to care about one another. There are a lot of great development opportunities at General Mills, especially for young people who are willing to work hard.

ConsLately there has been a lot of change and it feels like General Mills is less focused on work-life balance and more focused on business results.

Advice to Senior ManagementSometimes when things aren't working, it is not the people, but instead it is broken systems.

it's been downhill ever since Mark Bible left.

Prosthe pay is good, and most of the rank and file employees are fun to work with. pretty good benefits

Consmorale is terrible. everyone in management is out for themselves alone. there is no integrity in what they say and what they do. they follow rules to the letter, and ignore the intent. .

Advice to Senior Managementread the plaque by the front door.
    stop talking down to people.
having a degree, in an unrelated field, does not qualify you to tell people, who have been doing their job for years, how it should be done.
morale counts for 33% of quality and safety. look for ways to make employees jobs easier, and they will make you look good.

    Great

Team Leader III (Former Employee) Milwaukee, WI

ProsThe people leadership that you learn is great. I learned from a lot of great people.

ConsThey pride results more than people. Had an ops manager who cared very little for his people and were just there to get things done. Not the norm but they were not dealing with him. Kiss up and Kick down.
