    I worked at General Mills

    Pros

Great work/life balance and company culture. I was able to work with contractors, technicians, and senior leadership to execute a wide variety of capital projects.

    Cons

The co-op program lacks organization since it does not receive the same funding/programming as the corporately driven/funded internship program.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the co-op program on par with the internship program. Co-ops feel inferior because they don't get as much of an experience as the interns from a training/networking standpoint.

I worked at General Mills as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Challenging and lots of learning. Lots of personal growth opportunities, great compensation and decent benefits. Awesome time-off policies

    Cons

Very corporate, everybody is "minnesota nice", which gets a little old.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more innovative. If you want to compete with the quickly growing start-up food companies, you have to be less caught in the way things have always been done.

I worked at General Mills full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The culture is amazing. They really care about their people. Great work life balance, great salary and benefits. Summer hours, on-site doctor and other amenities. Challenging work but you are surrounded by brilliant people.

    Cons

There are a lot of meetings. It is hard to get everything done with the amount of meetings there are. Once you get to an SFA level it is hard to get into the manager level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing.

I worked at General Mills full-time

    Pros

Great people, high level of integrity, will always do the right thing, good benefits, flexible work systems, strong performance management, individual development program, great mentoring programs, global opportunities, strong manufacturing leadership.

    Cons

Slow to get things done, creativity is limited, company needs to focus on sales and marketing changes. Culture of meetings, meeting before the meeting, during the meeting and after the meeting needs to change. Slow decision making.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to look at all parts of the company for redundancy, eliminate waste (time and resource waste) not just material waste.
