    Pros

Benefits are very good. Pay is a little better than other local long term care facilities. Per deim pool receives even better pay.

    Cons

Treatment of staff is based on the prejudicial treatment of management. Those who are willing to work extra shifts get the best treatment, assignments and special favors. Those whose views and opinions not in agreement with management, and they voice those opinions, are subject tothe worst assignments and are short staffed.

    Advice to Management

Don't throw away senior experienced members of your staff for inexperienced to save money.

    Pros

Teamwork among the facility middle management.

    Cons

Teamwork of the facility staff is what keeps this center afloat. Without it, everyone would walk out the door. Almost everyone is looking for another job. Since the company went public, things have gone from bad to worse. 1 star facilities, humiliating state surveys, regional management are paid huge salaries and serve no purpose, offer no support and are only heard from when they want to give you more to do. Roll out initiatives with no follow through. Everything is done to look good on paper, but the reality is ugly. We are not allowed to say we are short staffed but managers (When we have any) are on carts almost every day but still held accountable for all of their other responsibilities. We can't do both. Administration does everything for show- treating regional staff like the customers instead if treating the customers like the customers. The whole organization is held together with shoestrings and bubblegum.

    Advice to Management

Take responsibility for what happens in your building, care for your employees and managers and stop lying to yourself about the quality of care. Fix it.

    Pros

I enjoy the atmosphere. Teamwork is evident on a daily basis. There is someone always willing to assist you or answer questions that you may have.

    Cons

Pay rate is below average compared to other jobs in the area. Difficult to find the supplies that you need to work with at times.

    Advice to Management

Find out more about new admits prior to accepting them.

    Pros

Large resources available due to big company
Locally very good team of committed therapists
Flexibility to go work at other Genesis run facilities if census is low.

    Cons

    Lower pay than average
    Poor work-life balance
    Productivity is constantly monitored

    Advice to Management

Adjust focus to patient outcome based and ease off on constant monitoring of productivity. If you are going to pay below average at least offer more vacation days. The personal days offer looks good on paper but somewhat difficult to attain in practice.

    Pros

Decent vacation & personal time benefits for regular employees (though not very flexible)
Pretty good internal education/training opportunities (though reimbursement for outside courses practically non-existent)

    Cons

90% productivity expectations force rehab staff to rush, compromise care, and/or fudge their numbers - all of which compromise patient care and professional integrity (not to mention the company's highly vaunted values)
    Merit raises are a sham
Performance appraisal process poorly executed; appeals are a waste of time
Company constantly changing the rules for documentation, HR policies, etc.
Point of Service documentation is coming: get ready for total tracking of your movements

    Advice to Management

Back off on productivity expectations; find other ways to meet the bottom line
