    Cons

Lay offs were just happening, so this was the main downside.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Genesis HealthCare full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

AOTA friendly, good educational opportunities, flexibility & good compensation and benefits. Reasonable productivity standards. Good opportunities for advancement. Greater job security when employed by an owner operator versus working for a contract company. Although Genesis has both owner operator and contract work, I was employed at a Genesis operator building.

    Cons

Computer software needs some work, time consuming when dealing with tech support.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve software for documentation and increase number of computers and laptops or for evals.

I have been working at Genesis HealthCare full-time

    Pros

I have been working with Genesis since 2005, in different roles; all of which have allowed me to grow personally and professionally. I truly recommend this company in their career choice.

    Cons

If you are truly committed to the healthcare setting and work hard there really are not any con's. the health insurance benefits have declined over the last few years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would just have to say, the health insurance could better. Also, the tuition assistance program has not been available for quite some time now, and to have that assistance the for employees to use will make them more valuable in the long run.

I have been working at Genesis HealthCare full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Flexible with time off and scheduling. Good team players (but there is always that one...), great pay and above average benefits. They are the most patient first oriented rehab company I've ever worked for in 14 years. Documentation is excellent and completed on Itouch. Assistants at my facility do not do the progress notes, only the daily notes...of course this is not a pro for the PTs or the OTs.

    Cons

There is no process of weeding out people who waste time and have low productivity. By weeding out I mean writing up an employee if he or she gets less that 30% below expected productivity. It is really easy where I work to get your expected productivity, and generally there are a few others that waste a lot of time with personal calls and chit chat which makes it harder for the rest of the team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep track of all your employees...offer bonuses to those who excel as therapists as well as those who excel in their productivity. Incentives as well as criticism.
