I have been working at Genesis as an intern (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They are always hiring cause turnover is rampant .... They "eat " their young

    Cons

"We the unwilling, led. By the unknowing
Are doing the impossible for the ungrateful . We have have done do much for so long with so little we are now qualified to anything with nothing forever "
Budget cuts are affecting care and service because of inadequate staffing .parienf space for long term residents due to focus on short term rehab patients where reimbursement is greatest. When money rules , care suffers. Employees have to prioritize to do required paperwork rather than patient care . Quality numbers tell the tale . Substandard

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hope stock holders decide out with the old in with the new , same old money hungry grubbed now playing " monopoly " and buying up all the " hotels " to win the game ? Where is the caring that is healthcare ?

I worked at Genesis full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, regular communication with program manager. Reasonable productivity expectations, opportunities for overtime (if desired). Clinical support available, paid continuing education and AOTA membership.

    Cons

Not enough computers available, software programs were slow making documentation and billing time consuming. Management was inconsistent with holding therapists accountable (some therapy assistants did not pull their weight with documentation responsibilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Did not require healthcare benefits however, it would be a plus if people who do not need medical benefits were offered an incentive. I worked for one company who would credit people not requiring medical benefits $100 each pay period.

I have been working at Genesis full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I was an Intern, Medical Administrative Assistant and Genesis Milford Center, was kind enough to host me. It was a very good learning experience. I had been a nurse for 39 years, got disabled, went back to school, when I was well enough, at Everest in Brighton. I learned the other side of nursing, the administrative end.

    Cons

Not enough $ in the budget to hire me.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They were great in assisting my learning.
