Fast paced environment, great place to start a career

.NET Web Engineer (Former Employee)
Culver City, CA

I worked at Genex full-time for more than 3 years

ProsThere are lots of different projects to work on since it is a client based business. This exposes you to many different domains and types of projects, so it's a great place to learn a lot of new things in a short amount of time.

ConsThere are limited growth opportunities and it's tough to maintain a work/life balance.

Positive

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Genex

ProsGenex offers a strong work life balance that I believe is extremely difficult to find in the digital agency world.

ConsSometimes it can get quite repetitive in terms of tasks and does not traditionally work with innovative companies that want to push the boundaries in terms of their products, etc.

Tech focused

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Genex

ProsGenex excels in the technology department when delivering solutions to clients. The office is dog friendly, so this makes working there fun if you like animals.

ConsVery safe, no risk in innovation. Work can be a safe and unchallenging. This could be remedied by winning more interesting work from wider variety of industries. A tendency to do the minimum level of interesting work to appease client. The culture can be secretive and rumor-ridden.

Advice to Senior ManagementMine and utilize the talent that you have, because you have a talented group of people. This human resource is not reaped to its greatest potential. Better define job roles and descriptions so people are accountable for what the work they do.

Not a typical interactive agency

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Genex

ProsThe best reason to work at Genex is that management is very respectful of work life balance, unlike many agencies. Great co-workers are another plus for Genex. There are very bright, talented people at Genex and a strong environment of cooperation.

ConsDownsides are typical for a small company: limited opportunities for growth and mediocre benefits. You also sometimes catch glimpses of a strong clique among long-time employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement needs to be quicker to communicate with all the employees. They don't always seem to recognize that absence of communication leads to inaccurate rumors.
