    I worked at Genoa Healthcare

    Pros

Enjoyed the somewhat relaxed atmosphere of the workplace. Felt like the administrative staff genuinely cared about their employees.

    Cons

Smaller company, so didn't offer as progressive retirement as larger companies do. Would have liked to see more offerings for networking with other sites. Also would have been great to have Continuing education courses offered for licensed staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer more meetings or chances to network between different sites.

I worked at Genoa Healthcare full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Salary was not bad for tech salary.

    Cons

Completely disorganized chaos all the time. The computer systems are very outdated, lots of room for prescription errors, and even more potential for insurance billing fraud. I am amazed the "company" has stuck around this long and actually has the money to pay it's employees. There is no clear direction for anything and the pharmacists they hire are only hired here because they can't get a job at a real pharmacy. What a mess.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Update computer systems, get organized. See all above cons.

I have been working at Genoa Healthcare full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Public health at its grittiest. I love the hands on access to providers and clinicians. Being able to work on such a close level with amazing people helping those in the most need is a great. The effect that this company has on the community is evident daily. The hours are great and holiday closure is a nice touch.

    Cons

Clientele are unpredictable at times and can make some uncomfortable. Often times transient and severely mentally ill clients can be quite dirty and the stench of soiled clothing can be overwhelming at times. Training is minimal and management isn't very receptive to constructive criticism. The chain of communication shuts down and redirects you to take care of your own problems without problem resolution. Low pay for seasoned staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees and show a little appreciation for their work. A little goes a long long way.

I worked at Genoa Healthcare full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The hours. When the medical benefits start.

    Cons

The management from the pharmacy up to regional.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees. Enroll management in classes on how to be managers since most are pharmacist that are promoted to that position w/ no training in the area of management.

I worked at Genoa Healthcare full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I received very good training at Genoa Healthcare. I appreciated the structure and organization of the company... There was never a "gray area", nor any question about how to properly handle any particular situation.

    Cons

The only downside was the need to self-promote the pharmacy, due to not being like well-know or chain pharmacy

I have been working at Genoa Healthcare

    Pros

It is a mid-sized company, so there is still a good amount of flexibility to make quick decisions and to accurately and quickly review the repercussions of those decisions. The management staff seem to care about the welfare of all employees and demonstrate that in the remuneration package, perquisites offered, and the general work environment.

Furthermore, the company is still growing leaps and bounds. There are so many opportunities for advancement within the company due to this growth. One only needs to demonstrate skills, determination, and professionalism to obtain to get where he or she wants to go. I feel that there are nothing but possibilities at Genoa Healthcare.

    Cons

I have not encountered any downsides to working with the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to focus on the development and furtherance of the company. Also, continue to focus on fostering a work-life balance for all employees. I believe that doing so will reduce internal churn and develop more loyalty.

I have been working at Genoa Healthcare

    Pros

Great idea of helping out the niche in the pharmacy world that hasn't really been touched.

    Cons

The lack of structure and grey areas left for each store to interpret.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

relax environment, fun people to work with but management is terrible.

    Cons

Managers = Bully. Some of the things that comes out of a managers mouth is very unprofessional.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Executives should keep a closer eye on their managers. Some managers should never manage people.
