    Pros

    Good benefits and vacation time.

    Cons

Never enough employees to do all the work that needs to be done in a day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring upper management and hire more employees for work in the office of the branch.

Former Employee - Senior Technical Specialist in Atlanta, GA

    I worked at Gentiva

    Pros

Compensation is great, the co-workers are great, benefits are great. The company values are excellent. Office environment was pleasant and free coffee, tea, cocoa was provided.

    Cons

Work-life balance was terrible. Managers would expect you to put everything you had into your job but would then turn around and screw you over. Technical management had no loyalty at all to the employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review current technical directors and replace with better models.

    Pros

I worked in IT for 6 years. Most of the people here are friendly, but there are a lot of miserable people here too.

    Cons

Completely disorganized. Projects never complete. Scope creep city. Peter Principle case study.

    Pros

Flexibility, professional development, sense of community within certain work groups, compensation and benefits.

    Cons

Disconnect between executives and office/field staff, perceived lack of transparency and internal politics

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get to know the employees better and be more open about the things that impact them. Good or bad, they're more likely to accept changes better.

I have been working at Gentiva full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Workload is not too heavy. Get to work on some interesting projects. Some people are really good at their jobs and you can learn from them.

    Cons

For a services company, it's shocking how little they value or invest in their employees. Corporate in particular gets the shaft. We are considered completely replaceable. The IT department is incompetent, with outdated systems and a lack of integration across the company. The company is an old boys club, hiring friends to do jobs they aren't qualified for. This company is ripe for a gender discrimination lawsuit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit chasing the share price, think long-term and invest in human capital.

Former Employee - Account Executive in Atlanta, GA

I worked at Gentiva full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

full benefits, 401k match, paid time off (but you'll have to fight others for the specific time)

    Cons

Operations didn't understand how to be sales minded and approach customers from a customer service perspective to ensure a positive experience. Constant battle between sales and ops. Numbers were set based on prior year performance and production was based on ability of clinical staff to perform. Fast moving environment with many moving parts. Not everyone on team able to work to the demands placed by corporate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Everyone in branch is so over worked, they are stretched beyond capacity and it leads to burn out and frustration of everyone. Have to allow people the PTO they request... Ridiculous to have to fight for requested time off

    Pros

It is centrally located off 285 for easy access on and off. Their color is wine.

    Cons

Once a position has been dissolved, or there is some down-sizing, this company lays you off despite positions open in another location or even in the same location. You must apply as if you were not a former employee to be considered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

How is not relocating current employees who have already gone through a 4 week orientation and know 'Gentiva's way' being fiscally responsible? You'd rather spend the money to orient others for a month before they can actually start work? Hmmm.

    Pros

Hard working staff that wanted to do a good job for the company.

    Cons

You will be 'let go' for bringing things to their attention that they don't want anyone to know about.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Gentiva full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Gentiva is growing. The company holds a lot of opportunity for anyone with a great attitude and strong work ethic. They have offices all over the country so there is opportunity to move anywhere you like to advance your career. The pay and benefits are good and the management cares about the employees. The culture is good and focused on providing caring compassionate care.

    Cons

This company expects a lot from its workers. The industry is in a difficult economic environment due to Medicare cost cutting. The company is facing declining income and is in a cost cutting state so pay increases are not as good as I would have hoped.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay in touch with your employees in the local offices.
