I have been working at Genworth Financial full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

This is a fun place to work. Outstanding community service opportunities. Good camaraderie. Strong leadership team. Products actually help people. Initiative is rewarded.

    Cons

Business lines and HQ could work together more effectively. Communications within business units do not always make their way to HQ and we should think of Genworth as one team - we are not that big. Current performance management system drives competition between employees - an old school approach.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate what you can when you can. CEO is outstanding but if there was one development opportunity the CEO needs to be in front of the employees more frequently. Suggest monthly town halls. Continue renewed focus on diversity.

I have been working at Genworth Financial full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Genworth has a great team culture. I have had the opportunity to go on team lunches, volunteer all over the community, and events like BBQs. I've enjoyed the development opportunities through classroom work but also through non traditional measures and tuition reimbursement.

    Cons

Communication across departments especially due to the distance between teams at times

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow in the footsteps of our CEO and make yourself visible and available to employees

I have been working at Genworth Financial full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Genworth offers an excellent on-boarding process, competitive market salary, competive benefits package, and an excellent time-off package. The recuritment process was well managed and executed. Corporate value is Integrity Fisrt at all levels, and this is seen in action... not just a slogan on a poster. Corporate culture places emphasis on inclusion, diversity, volunteerism, and opportunity for advancement.

    Cons

Adequate parking is provided for the Lynchburg facility, although you should be willing to walk a couple blocks to work each day from the available garages.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offering Floating holidays to accommodate other non-Christian religious observances would be a nice option to support diversity. These floating holidays could be used as desired for Christmas, Easter/Good Friday, Kwanzaa, Passover, Hanukkah, etc... according to individual employee religious preferences.

New opportunities are always arising in different departments of the company.

    Cons
