I worked at Genzyme as a contractor

    Pros

Great place to work at. Everyone was very welcoming and ready to assist, if needed. I would definitely go back as a full-time or contract person

Only con was we were residing in a building away from the main buildings.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Genzyme as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The Department of Comparative Medicine is staffed with wonderful, caring people who do a great job at managing an animal colony for research purposes. Working alongside the veterinary technicians, I was exposed to many procedures I had not yet encountered and encouraged to learn and master best practices for animal research.

    Cons

The internship was somewhat confusingly run and it seemed like the key organizers were not in full agreement about my role, so things took longer to get running than strictly necessary.

    Advice to Management

Keep bringing in vet students - I learned a tremendous amount and will definitely recommend it to future students!

I have been working at Genzyme full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The 401(k) match is the only thing that keeps me here at this point.

    Cons

Lack of growth and recognition for work. Managers and above seem to be focused on financials rather than treating their employees well. Measly 1% raises year over year. Very high attrition rates currently, leadership is not back filling positions.

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate salaries and end of year raises.

I have been working at Genzyme full-time

    Pros

Good people and there is always more than enough to do. Positions here serve as a great stepping stone but this is not where you want to setup shop.

    Cons

There is little to no support. Leadership demonstrates poor management skills. Others take advantage of this. There is constant bickering between departments. Almost no room for growth.

    Advice to Management

    Show up to work?
