Current Employee – been working at GeoFields full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – GeoFields strives to be the best in our field by hiring the brightest, aggressive, most personable employees who aim for the highest quality work day in and day out. The office space is open and inviting and the people are truly a delight to work with. Dialogue is encouraged among departments and management listens to any concerns one might have. If one is looking to get a foothold into the GIS Pipeline industry, come give GeoFields a look.
Cons – Traffic in Midtown Atlanta can be a headache, but GeoFields is conveniently located next to MARTA, Atlanta's rapid transit system. Many employees have found this to be a benefit and alternative solution to Atlanta's traffic issues.

Current Employee – been working at GeoFields full-time
Pros – Nice office location (Midtown)
Oil and gas industry clients (one of the more stable industries in the current economy)
Cons – Lots of yelling
Lack of teamwork
Finger pointing instead of constructive solutions when problems arise
Poor employee morale
Lack of flexibility with regard to work schedules
Failure to meet critical deadlines
Departments do not work well together despite being a smaller company
Advice to Senior Management – Geofields is very different from other companies in the industry with its command and control structure. Many similar companies foster a work-life balance and allow flexibility as workload ebbs and flows. Start trusting in your employees more and quit using fear-based tactics to motivate them. Encourage teamwork and hold employees accountable that aren't team players.

Current Employee – been working at GeoFields full-time for more than a year
Pros – As a GIS professional, the work here continually keeps me challenged. I have found there is definitely room to work your way up the ladder if you have the desire and are willing to put in some extra effort. This is a good place to start a career, or shift a career into the Pipeline GIS industry.
Cons – Sometimes rush hour traffic is bad in mid-town, but its do-able.
Advice to Senior Management – More time or financial support for professional trainings.

Former Employee – worked at GeoFields full-time
Pros – Great Location in Midtown.
If you like to work by yourself then this is the place for you.
Cons – This place is a sweatshop. The upper management acts like they are slave drivers. Had a horrible luncheon where the workers ate and upper management watched us eat like we are animals then had to go around and say why we liked our job. Also folks like to yell there and if you mess up once then you are labeled as a useless worker and when the time comes they will show you the door. They expect you to work long hours and judge you if you don't. They expect you to work 50 plus hours a week at the minimum.
Advice to Senior Management – None because unless you are in their club it doesn't matter.

Current Employee – been working at GeoFields full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Opportunities to rise through organization if top performer
Very professional Sales and Marketing team with tons of market knowledge (more so than competitors)
Flexible small company environment
Very nice, modern office
Location in nicest area in city
Get to work with some really great technologists
Cons – The company is experiencing some growing pains with some past turnover being a problem but isn't the case anymore. Need to grow the training department to raise the level of new employees.
Advice to Senior Management – Conitinue to recognize high performers and motivate average employees to become high performers.
Add more training to newer employees so they won't leave before they understand the business.

Former Employee – worked at GeoFields
Pros – The benefits are excellent - employer paid health insurance (for single plan) is certainly a strong selling point. As far as technology worked on and used, it's top-notch.
Cons – Management has endemic problems with regard to employee trust and communication. In terms of software-shop style, this is definitely a "Command and Control" structure. Employees are not given opportunities for career advancement. Turnover in the software development department is high (>80%) and contributes to low morale.
Advice to Senior Management – Management needs to listen to employees that actually produce the software. Management has sent a very strong message to current employees by firing whistleblowers that tried to point out solutions to the problems. Such actions undermine what could be a very great company.
