I have been working at Geokinetics as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The company is a great place to work and enhance your skills. You will be assigned projects that encourage critical thinking and prove that you are making a real difference in the company. There is an open door policy and always a team player to offer you advice or expertise in order for you to complete your job/project. There is much opportunity to grow as the company is growing.

    Cons

As with all companies, there are some who may not accept change as fast as others, but ultimately, employees align with vision and mission of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work, moving in a positive direction. Possibly have more employee engagement activities, maybe a Spring or mid-year event event (Crawfish boil, BBQ at park, etc).

    Pros

Good management team - fun to work with....lots of good projects for people to work on - makes it interesting to come to work

    Cons

Tough business climate - resources are slim so people have to make do with whatever is available. Sometimes they make bad long terms decisions to avoid short term financial pain

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep getting the business cleaned up so we can perform better as a company

    I worked at Geokinetics

    Pros

Great people and very interesting problems and challenges

    Cons

No clear career path/opportunities, bad compensation and poor development programs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better compensation for positively reviewed employees. If the company is in bad shape be upfront and let the employee know he is doing a good job, and when times improve, an appropriate compensation will come

    Pros

Good benefits, flexible hours, casual environment. opportunity for travel.

    Cons

Very unorganized in General. A lot of flaws! The company is still a mom and pop shop. Everyone knows everyone because they are either related or friends. Nepotism is noticed!

I worked at Geokinetics full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Travel to places you wouldn't normally go. An interesting line of work.

    Cons

Long working hours (over 13 hrs a day), 6 weeks shifts only 3 weeks off, little room for progression, little training, never knowing where you're going to be or when, hitches often extended and felt pressurised by management to extend or you will be fired, no compensation for extra days worked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat staff with more respect and provide them with similar time off and salaries as the rest of the oil industry.
