I have been working at Geometric full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    There is very little micromanagement

    Cons

Its obvious they do not care about you as an employee, but rather how much they can charge the client for you services. (ex. I am paid $20/hr and client is charged $35/hr)
You literally have no management, no one to inform you of policy changes/advice
No job security, when you hire on they will inform you of great security, but when the client doesn't have a need for you, they just dump you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For the manufacturing contract employees in the US, figure out a way to become more personal and represent the employee. Listen to needs, questions, and give advice. BE A LEADER. Most of us employees just feel like a number on a spreadsheet.

I have been working at Geometric full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Relaxing, mostly stress-free environment. Everyone that you talk to is friendly.

They have very flexible work hours in general. I can take time off randomly and it will be fine, although it will be unpaid time off if you don't use vacations. As long as your work your 8 hours, you are fine.

    Cons

    Company doesn't match 401k.

They don't pay all of time off due to customer factory shutdowns (They pay many of the days for the holiday shutdown; but are petty with the remaining few days). The summer shutdown is unpaid if you don't have any projects to work with.

They do not inspire personal development with the lack of training.

Generally no overtime. If a customer requires us to stay for a few hours, we take time off instead to compensate.

There can be favoritism involved on performance reviews. Without bosses being in the customer locations along with the employees, sometimes there is a disconnect on what the employees are actually doing; The performance reviews can look biased one way or the other.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please take care of your employees. We could use more personal growth in our careers.

    I worked at Geometric full-time

    Pros

Geometric, being a mid-sized company (in terms of revenue and employees), always thinks on building comprehensive Engineering solutions through it's niche products and services.
Employee friendly, lot of freedom and space for employees to work and innovate.

    Cons

Simply cannot get out of it's size bracket, what I mean is, its revenue has not grown from last 5 years and this made me as an employee very nervous about it's future.
Senior management positions are changing constantly and this did not give a firm direction to the company's vision.
Salaries need to be updated on par with industry standards.
Employee related perks and benefits are non-existent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lack of leaders (not managers) is what Geometric is lacking. Get that right and I think Geometric will be back to one of the preferred employers.

I have been working at Geometric full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

For an Entry level engineer this place is good to start their career and gain experience.

    Cons

As you work at client location your communication with employer is limited and you feel you dont belong to anybody.
If you are lucky at clients location you will learn better because most of the projects have repetitive works. Time studies, validation, line balancing etc.,
Performance evaluation is poor because of lack of communication between client and employer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I understand U have many things to take care of instead of taking care of ever single employee but Management should communicate well in advance with the client on educating the employee more on the project rather locking him down at one point.

    Pros

Provides 401k, health/dental/vision insurance. Solid work experience in fortune 500 companies. Experience software ranging from old to new in work environment.

    Cons

The overtime is 1:1 with regular rates. Vacation is earned after a year of working under contract.

I have been working at Geometric

    Pros

They are taking necessary steps to make sure that the company is going in the right directions. People are more motivated.

    Cons

It is becoming more of a Government company where there is not much compensation difference between the best and the worst. Most compensation is based on experience rather than expertise

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make growth more visible. Future path is not defined for most people. Ensure that people get an insight into what they would be doing in few years
