I have been working at Georg Fischer full-time

    Pros

Office culture is so kind and uplifting, compensation is excellent, and lot of potential in moving up. I have learned a great deal in marketing and I look forward to many more years with this company.

    Cons

There is a lot of travelling across the United States which can be tiring.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Georg Fischer full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Georg Fischer is a great place to work and there are good opportunities for development if you are willing to apply yourself. There is good work-life balance and as long as you do your job and do it well people won't complain. I am grateful to be surrounded by a very talented group of people, some new hires and some who have been around since the beginning of time it would seem, which creates a good balance of new, innovative ideas and sound knowledge that comes only with experience.

    Cons

With a number of operations across the world and the United States, it seems at times that each entity is pulling in different directions and communication between the different facilities is disjointed, especially with a lot of newer acquisitions. Senior management could be a bit more transparent as sometimes big decisions are made that seem to come out of the blue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be transparent with your employees and interact with them a bit more to get to know their concerns since at times they tend to feel a bit left out. Also try to create a better, more efficient communications network within the United States and across continents too.

    Their company values mean nothing...

    Pros

Good Benefits and hard working employees "on-the-floor"... Multiple business segments around the world.

    Cons

Upper Management doesn't get it. Their strategy in the United States is flawed and everyone is looking to increase their own personal value and not the company as a whole. Many sites have layoffs and employees are lied to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to manage people out of a textbook... Get to know your employees and the value they can bring to the company. What may have worked in the past, may still work with a little innovations.

I worked at Georg Fischer as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I worked here as a student consultant on energy sustainability and mapping.
Large manufacturing facility with wide areas for improvement. Perfect place to work as an intern.

    Cons

Supervisors care a lot about the bottom line which is hard to represent in terms of electrical safety and sustainability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Shouldn't be skeptical of undertaking new projects

I worked at Georg Fischer full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The whole GF business is in general well run, from Switzerland to the Americas great products and good people. The Americas manager is great and taking the company in the right direction. The European, Asian, and Americas all cooperate. Over all a Great Global Company.

    Cons

The broken spoke in the Georg Fischer wheel is their Signet Division in El Monte, California. The management team has an inward focus, is insular and has a not invented here attitude. It is a division that is reluctant to deal with customer issues. The Sales team is treated like adversary's not partners.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change the management team to one that has a customer centric approach. There are good people at Signet that deserve good leadership that treats people with respects. Partner closely with field sales. Focus on High Margin, High Volume Products.
