    Pros

Hospital is very clean, and well maintained. Close to where I lived at the time I was employed.

    Cons

Below average pay. Manage has a click with select employees who create a very intense atmosphere to work in. There isn't any team work, could be a good place to work if they'd weed out the bad seeds.

    Pros

Good wellness program for employes but that is it.

    Cons

Small town hospital that focused on money instead of caring for their patients or the employees. The manager in one of the departments lacked a college degree and many people quit there because this manager lacked any knowledge or class. If you were not liked by management, you were GONE!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It wouldn't do any good to advise this upper management. They never listen and they don't care. All they care about is the mighty dollar. Too much money was wasted on needless administrative positions that were created for needless reasons. The patients and staff suffered because of budget and manpower cuts. Livelihoods were ruined. Cuts needed to be made at the top to save money instead of making the patients and the "rank & file" employes suffer.

    Pros

Comparable salary for the area. They celebrate certifications, and recognize the people who want to improve their practice through advanced schooling. Shared governance. Updated electronic medical record system. Senior administration approachable. Building being updated.

    Cons

Some what stuck in the past, trying to have a more modern outlook, but needs work. Limited CNE offerings. They make it difficult for someone with an ADN to get employment there. Limited unlicensed assisting personnel leaving a larger workload for nurses.

Clinical Director's until death do they part!!!

    Pros

Management never changes so you always know who to go to in the chain of command.

    Cons

This hospital is soooooo top heavy with Clinical Directors and their Assistant Head Nurses there is no money left for the nursing staff left to care for the patients. The nursing staff are so guilt laden because the management team is forever preaching about the budget and cutting costs.

  7.

Probably one of the best places to work in the Grand Strand

    Pros

CEO is a visionary who is concentrating on top quality patient care and keeping the organization financially sound knowing difficult times are coming
Very advanced information systems for a community healthcare system

    Cons

Communication between management and staff is poor, information does not flow down to the line staff as it should
    Docs are overly catered to

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change out some of your managers who are not doing their job - you know who they are.

    Pros

Good benefits and competitive pay. Health programs to encourage you to eat right, exercise, etc. Overall decent moral amongst departments.

    Cons

Typical interpersonal conflicts that you find anywhere you work. Some staff very good at getting others to do their work for them. Frustrating! Also, good old boy (girl) relationships in some areas.

I worked as a certified nursing assistant.

    Former Employee - CNA

    Pros

Pay was good and raises. I worked different shifts and areas within the hospital.

    Cons

As a CNA you will do your work & assist RN. If you are sick with the flu or virus or illness Management does not care about patients well being, do not ever call in sick you will be terminated no matter how well you've done your job. Management tells you that you can re-apply for job but they will not hire you again.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would suggest treating employees the same way you are treated. You get your time off, you do not be at work all the time, but when an employee needs time off or calls in sick then its a problem. Team work is very needed. Promotions should be given to the ones who deserve it not by your preference or choice.

Run from this place if you can crawl-go to a real hospital in Charleston

    Pros

you truly can know everyone you work with it's so small. staff seems stable. pay is comparable, small town atmosphere. free parking.Cute ole fashioned town with lots of outside things to do.

    Cons

Felt terrible about the care I was forced to deliver. never enough help to do things safely. Jobs dont seem to go to best qualified- jobs go to the one who has the best "corporate values". Cut cost over patient care. Terrible MD staff who must get kickbacks for everything. Staff very unfriendly to folks without insurance. Physicians are the customers, yes believe it. Staff is blamed for everything.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your workers even if it's just a minute. Hire qualified people for the job a little less nepotism might be nice. Make patient safety priority one. Standards are for everyone and every hospital. Some physicians look good on paper but not in practice. Sometimes you do have to invest in your employees. Hire some outsiders once in a while it might provide some diversity of thought which is in great need.
