    Pros

Great academic support, smart faculty and staff, D2L training, syllabus and assignment freedom

    Cons

We don't make nearly enough to justify some of the things we have to put up with, like difficult class schedules, spur-of-the-moment meetings, and stressful classroom management.

    Pros

Great hours, works well with students, fantastic people working there, supervisors are kind and down to earth

    Cons

minimum wage (to be expected, but still sucks), definitely lower hours, you'll never get a full 20hrs/week

    Pros

The best part about working for the Sports Information Department is the ability to work doing something that I love, which is sports.

    Cons

Compensation is the only obstacle in working for Sports Information.

    Advice to Management

I have a wonderful manager who looks out for his employees.

    Pros

The perks of working on a college campus are here: access to top notch facilities/resources in a scenic, walkable setting and the potential to earn a degree virtually free of charge. The good faculty and staff on campus are some of the best you'll ever encounter. Very good benefits. Current president is great.

    Cons

Poor leadership in a few important positions really holds the university back. Work-life balance is valued by some departments but completely disregarded in others. Management in some departments does everything they can to limit time-off and maximize hours beyond M-F, 8-5. Important decisions made by very few, with no regard for the input from those who not in a leadership position. This is compounded by an unwillingness to hear progressive ideas that are contrary to the "tried and true" that may have worked in the past. This limits the school's ability to hire talented employees and prevent current staff from becoming worn out and discouraged.

    Advice to Management

Don't limit work-life balance/time-off policies to what you can legally get away with. Listen and implement new ideas. Bring in fresh faces from outside the campus bubble.

    Pros

You work with fellow college students who, in my experience, have all become friends of mine. The work is not that hard and the patrons are very nice. At this facility the center is only open to students and patrons 18 years of age and older. This means no little kids going crazy that could be found at neighborhood pools.

    Cons

The work hours are low. Some weeks I would only work 4 or 7 hours. However as a regular Lifeguard you can easily pick up dropped shifts.

    Advice to Management

This position requires the Lifeguard Instructor ARC certification. The class is moderately difficult and a bit costly but it can be done through the school for a good price. You also must be an undergraduate to hold this position. If you meet all these requirements my greatest advice would be to come in with a positive attitude, be able to hold a conversation, and make new friends.
