Pros
Income is almost entirely commission, so your income is mostly determined by your own efforts and abilities. The company does provide a very reasonable benefit package.
You have a lot of independence during the week to run your territory as you see fit, with very little interference from management --- as long as you are consistently making your quotas.
Cons
Company has a higher dedication to it's suppliers than its own customers. There are several services and conveniences that competitors provide that Georgia Crown management refuses to even consider allowing, and instead has a few strong policies that are major roadblocks to making sales in the marketplace. As a result, although our customers might appreciate and recognize the efforts of each individual sale rep, our customers have a decades long standing very low regard for the COMPANY in regards to customer service, and there is no effort at all to change that overall company image now or in the future.
Advice to Senior Management
Simply ask, two questions
1) What services can we provide to our customers to better Georgia Crown's relationship with our customers?
2) What policies and procedures can we reduce or eliminate that get in the way of Georgia Crown providing good customer service?
Pros
The company is an industry leader in the building of spirits, specialty, wine, and malt beverage brands. You get the opportunity to represent luxury items geared toward a recreational lifestyle while being fairly compensated for your efforts. You are given a great deal of freedom to operate your territory as your own personal business. Your income potential is limitless.
Cons
Commissioned sales are the bulk of your income. In erratic economic times, your compensation can vary wildly from paycheck to paycheck. The hours are long and inconsistent and require a person with a great deal of personal organizational skills. A great deal of personal time must be spent educating yourself on the brands you represent.
Advice to Senior Management
It pays to more to drive the market than react to it.
