Probation Officer- Government work for government pay. Low expectations and added work for those who excel.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGun, badge, dodge charger, iPhone, iPad. You get paid on the 15th and 30th. Little expectation for more than minimal work.

ConsNo pay raises, very political environment, no reward for performance, little motivation for change. No performance based advancement on the probation side unless you find a friend in the upper levels of management.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit looking at years of service and start looking for performance. Hire those motivated to excel. And fire more of the lazy dead weight you employ.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    A learning expericance.

    Correctional Officer (Current Employee)
    Forsyth, GA

ProsSteady pay, regular days off. You know your schedule ahead of time so you can at least make plans for your days off.

ConsNot enough pay. We haven't had a raise of any kind in more than 6 years. Mandatory non-paid overtime. No or poor equipment. Ignorant management who play favorites. Not enough training, its pretty much sink or swim. High turn over rate due to poor pay and poor training.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe fair and consistent. Employees should be paid for thier work.

Not a great place to move up

    Probation Officer (Current Employee)
    Lawrenceville, GA

ProsFlexible schedule, local management was helpful, training was decent, updated fleet vehicles, all equipment was issued, able to switch offices easily

Conspay, upper management, a culture of snitching on others to advance one's career, not a good working relationship with local law enforcement, advancement opportunities were very limited

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't micromanage from afar. Allow the supervisors you promoted to run their office.

Not enough money for the work!

    Probation Officer (Current Employee)

ProsGet entry level Law Enforcement training

ConsPay is extremely low for required education compared to other LE Agencies. Focus is emphasized in the wrong areas, bigger and better gadgets but not on retention. Provide officers with the proper tools for the job, not what sounds good.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt all starts from the top, not the local office.
