I have been working at Georgia Department of Corrections

    Pros

Gun, badge, dodge charger, iPhone, iPad. You get paid on the 15th and 30th. Little expectation for more than minimal work.

    Cons

No pay raises, very political environment, no reward for performance, little motivation for change. No performance based advancement on the probation side unless you find a friend in the upper levels of management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit looking at years of service and start looking for performance. Hire those motivated to excel. And fire more of the lazy dead weight you employ.

I have been working at Georgia Department of Corrections full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Steady pay, regular days off. You know your schedule ahead of time so you can at least make plans for your days off.

    Cons

Not enough pay. We haven't had a raise of any kind in more than 6 years. Mandatory non-paid overtime. No or poor equipment. Ignorant management who play favorites. Not enough training, its pretty much sink or swim. High turn over rate due to poor pay and poor training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Georgia Department of Corrections full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Get entry level Law Enforcement training

    Cons

Pay is extremely low for required education compared to other LE Agencies. Focus is emphasized in the wrong areas, bigger and better gadgets but not on retention. Provide officers with the proper tools for the job, not what sounds good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
