I have been working at Georgia Department of Public Health full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

If you are coming from the outside such as private sector you will get paid a whole lot more than an employee who is already in the organization doing the job will only get a 10% percent raise.

    Cons

Management will write you up for every little thing, hold you to your evaluation literally! Management does not allow employees to make sound decisions especially if the employee has been there for year, have knowledge and understanding of job situations that arise. If you increase your education such as a Masters degree, you do not get any kind of increase. Management does not appreciate your hard work such as staying late.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to include employees on things discussed in management meetings so everyone can be on the same page as far as the mission, value and goals of the organization. Management needs to treat employees with respect.

I worked at Georgia Department of Public Health

    Pros

Paid holidays and security cameras watching your every move. Management is never around and evaluations do not matter.

    Cons

DRAMA drama drama. Eisenhower location thrives on drama and poor customer service skills clinic wide.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come to work for a change vs depending on bias people's opinions. Quit sitting at your desk and get out more. Then you won't be so surprised with employee turnover and other issues.

    Pros

Good opportunity for college graduates to gain experience

    Cons

    Not a place to stay

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the people who are actually doing the work happy and stop promoting friends and family. Listen to complaints and do something to resolve the issue(s). Ignoring the problem doesn't make it go away.

I have been working at Georgia Department of Public Health

    Pros

    1) Feeling of helping the community.
    2) No work on weekends unlike most labs.
    3) Work according to CDC procedures, good CDC connections.
    4) Good, current technology.

    Cons

    1) Lousy salaries.
    2) Many people seem to be angry/sad/hopeless.
    3) Management doesn't seem to care. "If somebody doesn't like it they can go" attitude.
    4) Difficulty to hire. Those left have to work for 2.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fight for salaries that are at least on the lower range of the Georgia average. You want stellar personnel you can't pay them like they're mediocre. Oh, wait, you can...
