Pros
Pay and benefits, dedicated employees
Cons
Too secretive in finances -hard to work for compared to when GP was publically owned
Advice to Senior Management
Treat employees better
Pros
If you have a strong desire to add value in a principled manner, then you will fit in well at GP.
Cons
The downside for me is the reality that A player only make up the minority. But those A players are extremely great people to partner up with!
Advice to Senior Management
You do a great job of giving your people room to roam, but let them no their freedoms and seek to better understand what will add value to their lives. By catering to their needs I believe that they will return the favor by making sacrifices for you.
Pros
The people who worked there
Cons
At the plant level not alot of room for advancement
Advice to Senior Management
Offer better options for benefits like and HMO
Pros
There is a great work environment. Management is very interested in helping each employee achieve their career goals. It is a very successful company.
Cons
At times there were not enough tasks to keep everyone busy. However, it was still challenging and it was an enjoyable experience.
Advice to Senior Management
Management has done a great job at making me feel important to the company. They are very skilled individuals and good leaders.
Pros
Evaluations involve value creation as a basis for incentive pay
Private Company (Koch Industries)
Cons
Subjective vs Objective performance reviews
Advice to Senior Management
Need to work on the Koch culture integration. It's not fully integrated in my opinion.
Pros
Respect and Integrity
Focus on creating real economic value
Smart capable senior leadership
Performance is recongnised and rewarded
Cons
Big Company. Still trying to shake-off the old command and control culture.
Culture is not for everyone if you want a free ride, this is not the place to be.
You need to take responsibility for your own career, no one will hold you hand and tell you what the next career move is.
Change is part of every day. Nothing is certain.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue promoting the MBM culture. We are much futher along than we were a few years ago but we still need to improve.
Pros
A very smart and capable workforce
Cons
There is zero work life balance
Advice to Senior Management
Take an interest in your people as people.
Pros
The company goes to great lengths to educate everyone on the philosophy they are using to build the culture of their operations.
Cons
The compensation philosophy is very different from anything I've ever experienced. Multiple years without a salary increase for salaried employees is the norm.
Pros
Vast and varied experience opportunities, great pay and benifits
Cons
Lack of ability to make significant changes unless you are a GM for the site.
Advice to Senior Management
Dont step over those you give leadership to in an effort to micromanage in the classic "command and control." Follow MBM at all times.
Pros
Flex hours and telecommuting
Diligent employees
Cons
Management does not value employees
Management doesn't adhear to the companies guiding principles
Ineffective leadership
Promotions are based on office politics and not performance
