Pros
Georgia Tech is an outstanding research university that fosters innovation and creativity among both its faculty and students.
Cons
Construction seems to never end
Pros
A lot of room for exploration, personal growth, and meeting professionals. There are lots of experts in their fields and lots of room for collaboration for projects. The school is well funded for research and has lots of resources for continuing your project. My program also offered free health insurance for graduate research assistants.
Cons
The area has a bit high rate of crime since it is close to the downtown Atlanta. The administrative process can take a bit time to get processed.
Advice to Senior Management
During the 6 years that I spent at Georgia Tech, I liked the fact that the school provided apartment-style dormitories that are safe for the students (constantly patrolling). Please continue to provide secure housing for new graduate research assistants.
Pros
talented people to work with
Cons
low monthly pay with tuition waiver
Advice to Senior Management
try to communicate as clear as possible
Pros
Good interaction between students themselves and betweem them and supervising faculty members. The dedication of the people whether students or faculty is appreciable.
Cons
Sometimes high dedication leads to stress over students. I feel that students can be much more efficient with a bit less stress.
Pros
Excellent retirement
Flex Schedule, good amount of paid time off
Accesable management
Good employees are promoted.
Excellent training
Growth industry
Cons
No raises in past three years.
Price of health care keeps rising each year
With state budget cutbacks, I do more work each year with no raise
HUman resources department is ineffective and inaccessable
Advice to Senior Management
Would like to hear and read more praise. Cars on Georgia Tech campus are buglarized regulalry. You Have to pay to park and it is close to $700 a year; way to much.
Pros
management is understanding to personal issues
flexible work hours
very knowledgeable co-workers
sense of pride
widely recognized university
diverse faculty/staff/students
open to telecommuting
Cons
underpaid - Due to the state budget reductions, there have been no raises between 2008-2011 (and 2012 doesn't look good)
have to change departments to get promoted
have to pay to park on campus
very limited training budget
some management is "old school" as far as "if you are working from home, you aren't working"
Advice to Senior Management
think outside the box for work hours and working from home.
Push harder on more money for training. Offer more cross training between departments
Pros
Teaming is a great reason to work at Tech. It is also a great learning environment.
Cons
The pay could be better
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Good advisor. Adequate funding and projects. There are a wide range of people from different disciplines to get guidance and advice.
Cons
Lack of focus on PhD project.
Pros
good location, there are many good programs for both undergraduate and graduate students. You have unlimited access to many practical training facilities.
Cons
The downside is that you need to work hard to keep up, especially in the first year of your graduate study, You have to excel in both study and research
Pros
Excellent Facilities for both work and recreation
Cons
Knucklehead egotisical maniacs in positions of power
Advice to Senior Management
Get Rid of the knucklhead bosses
