Pros
Excellent facilities, good benefits, good opportunities.
Cons
Pay in some labs for postdocs is not so great.
Pros
Great professors, great interdepartmental communication
Cons
intense, first semester is very difficult
Advice to Senior Management
none
Pros
Georgia Tech has the professors, resources, facilities, and sophisticated equipment to provide great training to graduate students.
Cons
student fees are high and it makes it difficult for students to pay when the stipend is relatively low
Pros
Good collaboration. Well connected campus. Good location, proximity to good research/government institutes like CDC, SRA and Emory (for Biology majors).
Cons
Pay/compensation for graduate students is probably not at par with other institutes of the same standard.
Pros
many related groups in this field
very nice campus and recreation center
good student career service
series seminars
department has shared facilities
Cons
I haven't find too many downsides of working at Georgia Tech. Maybe the library should include more recent books and journals.
Pros
Good support system, nice people in the research management offices, great benifits, and fair compensation. Atlanta is a great place costwise to live
Cons
Slow processing of paperwork. Atlanta is not the most beautiful of cities, there is however a lot to do.
Pros
Georgia Tech is an outstanding research university that fosters innovation and creativity among both its faculty and students.
Cons
Construction seems to never end
Pros
A lot of room for exploration, personal growth, and meeting professionals. There are lots of experts in their fields and lots of room for collaboration for projects. The school is well funded for research and has lots of resources for continuing your project. My program also offered free health insurance for graduate research assistants.
Cons
The area has a bit high rate of crime since it is close to the downtown Atlanta. The administrative process can take a bit time to get processed.
Advice to Senior Management
During the 6 years that I spent at Georgia Tech, I liked the fact that the school provided apartment-style dormitories that are safe for the students (constantly patrolling). Please continue to provide secure housing for new graduate research assistants.
Pros
The faculty are all the best in their fields.
Cons
Courses are not easy. Safety issue might be a concern
Advice to Senior Management
Improve campus safety
Pros
talented people to work with
Cons
low monthly pay with tuition waiver
Advice to Senior Management
try to communicate as clear as possible
