Pros
Right size, not too big, not too small, can advance pretty quickly under the right circumstances. Good benefits. Multiple business units, so there is always a good range of opportunities available around the company.
Cons
Senior management team is getting stale, many people in top jobs get there through attrition, just by staying with the company for a long time. Not a high-performance environment, some of your colleagues are talented and committed, other will be mediocre in terms of their capabilities and drive.
Advice to Senior Management
Implement a better management system, get some fresh talent in key management positions
Pros
Good location, clean work environment. Lower Management really care about the workers and most came from in house. Great pride taken in producing a great product.
Cons
Upper management seems to simply care about the bottom line. Everything seems to be panic driven to meet deadlines which constantly change with no feedback. Just seems way to chaotic.
Advice to Senior Management
Communication within all levels of the company needs to be improved. While the bottom line is important, so is keeping in mind those that have dedicated their lives to this company.
Pros
Gerber Scientific is a leader in Cam technologies. They pride themselves in providing world class automation and manufacturing solutions in addition to Cad solution to varying industries.
Cons
Gerber Scientific although being a leader in automated solutions to varying industries - does not provide a total positive attitude towards their employees - benefits are great. They have forgotten what got them to the dance in the beginning - which was the employee base. They tend to forget the little people for the sake of the organization.
Advice to Senior Management
Never-ever forget what brought you to the dance - the vision of being the first-with technology and the individuals that got you where you are today and their belief in what they and you do!
Pros
The company appears to be aggressive toward new business development - however they are chasing the "industry" at the moment.
Cons
Major downfall - as successful as they are they have forgotten what has made them what they are today and the contribution of the employees in general.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more attentive to the knowledge of your employee base.
Pros
The "little people" are some of the most hard working, industrious people anywhere. It is a great "team environment" within the lower ranks. Cafeteria is on site, which is one of the few benefits available. It is a business casual office so you don't need to buy expensive corporate clothing.
Cons
There is no communication from Senior Management at all. Everyone seems to be in a constant state of confusion. A lot of times oyu don't even see the headlights before you get thrown under a bus. A lot of finger pointing and favoritism is showed, and absolutely no loyalty to some of the hardworking folks that have been there over 2 decades. They are just shoved out the door first during tough times so less expensive workers can be brought in or outsourced. The business strategies are over 30 years old. Things went downhill after the death of Mr. Gerber
Advice to Senior Management
Comunicate!
