    Pros

At least they do a decent job of working with class schedules not that that's too hard to do when you get 20 hours a week. A year ago I'd probably say 'the Union at least made sure you weren't making an awful wage' but recent events have made Wal-Mart actually pay better (and the excuse for the low pay raise given to us back in October was 'oh our competition pays less'.

    Cons

So many of the reviews here just scream 'company making fake reviews up' (or telling management to go make glowing reviews). Giant Eagle is an alright company to work for if you don't mind barely breaking 20 hours a week and are under the age of 19 and you will never ever get a full time position and would be lucky to get a management position that isn't held by a first or second tier. In the end retail is not a place you want to be for any prolonged period of time obviously.

    Advice to Management

I'd say 'actually listen to the people that work for you' but we all know that'll never happen. Daddy had to come and save the company already once before and ever since he left again the company has just been taking a nosedive as Laura continues to try and make as much as she can before the company tanks (well guess that's pretty typical of people who never had to do any of the hard work themselves).

    Pros

Benefits but nothing great and expensive

    Cons

Pay scale. Terrible hours. No lunch or breaks

    Advice to Management

A lunch and breaks would be nice and screen your managers more. Some have serious issues.

    Pros

Good pay, good coworkers within department, technicians more skilled than other chains

    Cons

Lack of confidence in corporate, busy pharmacies, shady at the top

    Advice to Management

Don't bite the hands that have been feeding you good results for years or you'll lose them all eventually.

    Pros

    Good hours and nice people

    Cons

Always busy and never recognized for work done.

    Advice to Management

Take a little more time to notice what your employees are actually getting done, not just what you need to do to impress your corporate bosses.

    Pros

    -10% store brand products
    -health insurance
    -great fellow employees

    Cons

    - Don't let the lead clerk in my title fool you. I'm still getting paid the same I was when I worked in another department.
    - The union does not help you. I called asking why I had never received my raise and my title change as I was promised by corporate. They asked why I was still even working in that department.
    - I also only work part time (35 hours per week). I barely make enough money to live.
    - The upper management is OK if you know how to make them laugh; but most of the time they will make your life miserable if you aren't on their good side.
    - Sometimes you are forced to take personal days even if you don't want to.
    - Daily meetings are boring and make no sense.
    - Corporate meetings are also boring and barely get paid anything for mileage. They subtract your home to your store out of the equasion. They also lowered the amount you get paid because "gas went down."
    - Since I also do the special occasion/ event planning I have to use my own car to make deliveries. (I only have myself to blame for that one)
    - Management plays favorites. Be nice and make them laugh, thats my biggest advice I can give to you if you don't want to brown nose it. If you do make them mad, be prepared to be watched and criticised at every moment. I was told I have anger issues.
    - I have to do about 100 hours worth of work in only 35 hours per week.

    Advice to Management

    - Don't play favorites
    - Talk to your employees to see what they like or don't like.
    - Give more hours to people that need them and deserve them.

    Pros

Good managers are great and make working there worthwhile, always have new products.

    Cons

Store management changes very often, discount is minimal.

    Advice to Management

Please focus on helping out and being a part of the team. Intimidation techniques just make people quit.

    Cons

    Over worked.
Do not follow what is put on application.
    No home life.
Close on one day open the next. Not right.
Team manager should show by example. But doesn't.
Told them 20-25 hours a week on application.Has been over 30 hours every week.

    Advice to Management

Team leader does not know everything.
Listen to the real workers that make your money.
Tell team leaders to listen to workers.

    Pros

I like the flexability of the schedule. And have somewhat of an opportunity to explore other departments.

    Cons

There are clicks with upper management and employees, that may hinder your ability for advancement within the company. Some of these employees in the "click" receive better treatment then others and do what they please, without repercussion. These "click" employees also disrespect the SCO employees that are responsible for their behavior.

    Advice to Management

Advice to management. Be more aware of your surroundings, including the (little people) cashiers. CLICKS! Give credit where credit is due! Appreciate your employees! Thank them! Great comments are given every day from customers. Do you get them? There are jealous employees that will not pass on great comments from customers. wrong.
