I worked at Giant Eagle part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The atmosphere among employees was great. In slow time, we got time to talk since we couldn't leave our posts. I cleaned in almost every spare time I got. It's a fast-paced environment that you can learn to master in only a month or two. Seeing regular customers and new faces keeps you on your toes.

    Cons

Some customers can be downright rude or argumentative. When it's really busy, all you can do is keep pushing forward and keep your line down. Being nice to some customers is difficult, but part of the job.

    Pros

    Great people to work with.

    Cons

The corporate mandates become too much to bare.

    Advice to Management

Let the trained people in their respective departments take care of their duties without all the micro-management and useless meetings and exercises.

I worked at Giant Eagle part-time

    Pros

I really enjoyed working with the many customers that shop Giant Eagle. Giant Eagle has a great employee and customer based system. I found working at Giant Eagle was very rewarding because they have employee discounts, and there is always opportunity to grow.

    Cons

I had to work mornings everyday. Sometimes customers would put me in predicament I didn't like, for example, lying to me or another employee to get something free.

    Advice to Management

Keep a good eye one customers and employees because sometimes customers and employee break the rules and it's a big hassle to others if that happens.

I have been working at Giant Eagle full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people. Everyone in the department/ facility take care of each other and try to solve problems as one. pretty good work/life balance. Lots of learning opportunities due to constant challenges.

    Cons

Communications between departments/ facilities are lacking. Too many ideas, not doing a good job at filtering and implementation. Too many conflicting interests within the company. Good work do not lead to reward/ advancement.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on your core competencies.

  11. Pros

Great food, ok pay. Lots of great people who come shop there and for the most part, the employees are friendly yet stick to themselves

    Cons

Too busy, sometimes rude customers, and if you wanted to get off register and do something else such as stock, or push carts you couldn't.

    Advice to Management

    LISTEN to your employees.
