    Pros

    Great people to work with.

    Cons

The corporate mandates become too much to bare.

    Advice to Management

Let the trained people in their respective departments take care of their duties without all the micro-management and useless meetings and exercises.

I have been working at Giant Eagle full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people. Everyone in the department/ facility take care of each other and try to solve problems as one. pretty good work/life balance. Lots of learning opportunities due to constant challenges.

    Cons

Communications between departments/ facilities are lacking. Too many ideas, not doing a good job at filtering and implementation. Too many conflicting interests within the company. Good work do not lead to reward/ advancement.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on your core competencies.

I have been working at Giant Eagle part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very flexible scheduling. The work is easy to catch on to. Career growth is readily available for those who wish to move up. Week paid vacation for part-timers.

    Cons

Very repetitive work. It can be difficult to stay in a good mood since it's important to always be nice to customers, no matter how disrespectful they may be.

    Advice to Management

    None really

I have been working at Giant Eagle full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

write your own schedule as a manager. vacation time is 3 weeks after 5 years. 401k match up to 4.5%. pay for management is good compared to competitors. for the most part weekly hours expected is 45-48. occasionally have to work 6 days but that is the exception.

    Cons

hours are always under whats necessary to deliver the kind of service and conditions that is expected. advancement is difficult the company has a trend of overpaying outside hires and promoting new hires to justify their salaries. lots of management turnover in the last year. annual raises are only in the 2-2.5% range

    Advice to Management

take care of your people. give employees better starting wages and better raises.

I have been working at Giant Eagle part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Almost everyone who works on the floor is excellent. Almost all customers are pleasant; lots of return customers. Occasional free food in the break room.

    Cons

Pretty meh pay; often icky work. At one point my department lost a lot of people, and those of us who remained worked our butts off trying to keep up. In repayment, our hours were cut, since we managed to stagger along with those few hours previously. Senior management seems a bit oblivious.

    Advice to Management

Don't pull that kind of nonsense!
