    Pros

It pays decent and can be a fun atmosphere. It sometimes can be something new everyday. It's nice to interact with customers.

    Cons

The store managers can sometimes micro manage. They don't always trust you to get your work done. The work can sometimes be repetitive everyday as well

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees to do their job until they prove you wrong. Treat your employees a little better with more praise

    Pros

Management is honest with their goals and what they expect of recent hires. Lunch break despite not legally mandatory under certain hour threshold.

    Cons

Volatile shift scheduling if you're not used to retail or service industry front-end. Management can be blunt, but oftentimes it's for the ease of speed rather than poor HR.

    Advice to Management

Upper management should listen to lower management to increase worker efficiency rather than implementing national policies that theoretically increase productivity (which they can only hope)

    Pros

The people within my department are great. The benefits, once you're awarded them, are fantastic. My current manage is really good about giving me the days off that I need.

    Cons

They expect you to work harder than you're being compensated for. The benefits are great but they take a long time to get, especially if you're a part-timer. Same goes for vacation. personal, and sick time.

    Pros

Easy job with the right team.

    Cons

Favoritism between certain managers and associates was atrocious, scheduling wasn't really flexible, the scheduling manager is not a nice person and made you feel like crap no matter what.

    Advice to Management

    Lighten up.

I have been working at Giant Food Stores part-time

    Pros

Helps to get some income while in college or high school. Flexible hours, decent pay. My store was small, so you get to know everyone that works there which is nice and it's easier to talk to management

    Cons

Communication from management to employees doesn't always get evenly passed along. Can't live extravagantly on the pay. Only good thing is salary increases 20 cents every 6 months.

    Advice to Management

Better communication from management to employees. Make sure everyone is on the same page

  10. Good at start horrible at the end

I worked at Giant Food Stores

    Pros

Health insurance I do not have many pros at all. Maybe some people I worked with that is all. It's a good job for someone in high school

    Cons

Over worked and totally stressed out for what they give you. If your looking for full time forget about it. With all the new rules it makes you feel you are in second grade

    Advice to Management

Come on work and get to know the associates. Give full time to people who deserve it and work hard

    Advice to Management

only high school kids will probably work here, no point in having a career when there is no full time positions..
