I worked at Giant Food Stores

    Pros

There are different positions in the company you can work in. The interaction with the customers was mostly a positive experience for me.

    Cons

Giant is stingy with there hours and stingy with pay. Just like most companies, all they care about is the bottom line and that's numbers. How much they sell. Along with caring about that, they need to care a little more about their employees. Because it's because of them that the store even runs period.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to put your employees first. Stop treating them like they expendable. It's not always just about the customers.

I have been working at Giant Food Stores

    Pros

Very flexible, get to socialize and get to know the customers. Get a lot of customer service experience which will help you with whatever you may pursue for your lifetime career goals.

    Cons

The main challenge has been the inconsistency at times with your weekly schedules. Your schedule is different day by day and week by week. It's hard scheduling things outside of work. A set schedule would be nice, even though it's only a part time job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication would be my number one advice to management. Management can be our of the loop foresay it seems and not very consistent with how they treat employees, etc... Favoritism. There is a lot of conflicts of interests in this company it seems but that is everywhere though.

I worked at Giant Food Stores

    Pros

    The work was fairly easy.

    Cons

Managers were unapproachable. I wasn't sure if these guys found joy in making employees under them feel inferior, but it lead to many miscommunications.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It has been a few years since I've worked here, so maybe things have changed, but I simply suggest that management/supervisors need to take the time to fully train employees.
