Pros
employee fairness is enforced by corporate office
pay is competitive or better than competition
promotional opportunities exist
Cons
the work is repetitive and doesn't always feel rewarding or noticed
some people are manipulative and degrading, both management and fellow workers at times
Advice to Senior Management
not sure at this time.
Pros
Nice and friendly staff. Great to work with
Cons
Not really impressed with management. Very disorganized.
Pros
Corporate makes the effort to be a responsible employer and an active community leader
The top level of the corporation truly mean to respect every associate. Top corporate officers have made every effort to personal meet every associate.
Cons
Middle management is too focused on making numbers at all costs.
Middle management are former store managers with little real training in developing human potential. The focus is on numbers with a very strong incentive to cheat. Loss prevention and others look the other way if numbers are being met. Associates that challenge dishonest managers are set up and fired with the blessing of HR and district/regional managers. There is absolutely no guarantee of fair treatment.
Advice to Senior Management
Outsource the HR department. HR does not have the training and expertise that is needed for such a large corporation. Many violations of state and federal laws are broken on a regular basis even when HR is contacted. Eventually, the company will pay in court. This is a company that has a good heart but is being jeopardized by a small, but growing, group of power hungry individuals.
Pros
associates make friends easily, it is warm and dry, if you need time off you usually get it, paid every week, shirts are good color
Cons
fight for hours, low pay, lack of respect, waiting a long time for benefits, not letting us hear both sides about unions, some inflexibility, customers, no time and a half on sundays like it used to be, making $8.00 when the avg. cashier in winchester is getting around 9.00 to 9.50 per hour
Advice to Senior Management
Remember the little guy-if it was not for him you would not be where you are, share the wealth--raise the pay, stop the fraternization-treat everyone equal, respect, let us decide for oursevles about unions like it mentions in the global compact, offer benefits sooner-full-time 6 months part-time one year and that still is a long time to waite
Pros
Flexible hours
$20 Shoe voucher
Fairly clean
Cons
No employee discount
mistreatment by managers
no communication between corporate and employees
NO BENEFITS for most employees
no respect for breaks, going to the bathroom, getting water, lunches.....
most people are there only because of their fellow employees
Advice to Senior Management
start considering your employees as much as the profits
stop pitting the managers against the employees
put in an employee discount and you wont have to worry so much about security
Pros
flexible hours
decent pay
fast paced work
Cons
horrible management
too much interpersonal drama
backstabbing
no respect for employees
unfair favoritism
Advice to Senior Management
Please walk around the store with the eyes of a customer. I would not like to see employees out of uniform or talking/texting on their phones. When employees break the rules than they should be disciplined whether or not they are your friends. Allowing bad employees to have special privileges just makes the rest of us angry
Pros
My management was kind and respectful.
Co-workers where awesome.
Pay was good, I mean don't come into a food store expecting to support family as a service attendant. Great job for high-schooler and college goers!
Cons
Like most businesses sometimes communication would break down but that is forgivable. However, My biggest cons is management would allow bad employees to get away with stuff. We used to work with a girl who was a assistant dairy manager. She would literally be late every single by anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes and once or twice by an hour. The only reason she left is becuase she was moving not becuase management fired her.
Advice to Senior Management
Do a better job keeping your employees in line. When an employee walks all over management, they are also walking all over everybody else.
Pros
-flexible schedules
-coworkers
-job security
-good union benifits
Cons
unless you have no expenses pay is SAD at best
seniority is a must for decent hours
customers
Pros
-Easy To Learn Work
-Fast Paced Work
-Great Pay
-Decent Amount of Hours
Cons
-Impossible to Get Time Off
- No "Cross Talking" or talking to other employees on the front end while things were slow
-HORRIBLE MISTREATMENT BY MANAGEMENT. I was consantly yelled at and mocked by my manager for trivial things or nothing at all.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your employess like actual human beings.
Pros
The best pasrt was the flexible work schedule. I could pretty much dictate when I wanted to work during the week and weekends.
Cons
The pay was lower than I wanted, and I had to work a lot of hours to make what I needed.
Advice to Senior Management
Improve the salaries for all levels of employment. Listen to what employees have to say about making improvements in the company.
