    Pros

Flexible Scheduling - management will usually work with you for what you need, good for students
Easy Work - produce is a very simple job, you stock, you prep, you interact with customers
    Raises every six months

    Cons

Store Management has gone downhill over the years, micromanagement sometimes occurs, but department management isn't as bad
Recently, corporate has been adding multiple responsibilities to departments that actually hinder work speed

    Advice to Management

Stop giving additional responsibilities to departments, and actually ask associates their opinion regarding whether these additions would help or hurt their ability to do their job. Stop cutting labor if you want results.

    Pros

The health benefits are amazing and very hard to come by from many companies. I really like my managers they are really good at working with what schedule you can work.

    Cons

Being over worked and feeling under appreciated most days, customers can be pretty mean if you can't give them exactly what they want very quickly.things keep breaking but takes days or weeks to get fixed.

    Advice to Management

A thank you for your work, or help when noticed its needed goes a long way.

    Pros

They provide you with flexible working hours as well as increasing pay as you work there longer. It is also a pretty relaxed environment to work in

    Cons

There is limited room for advancement within the company. you can only get promoted so high unless you make it to the corporate level

    Advice to Management

management needs to pay closer attention to its workers to recognize who actually does the most work in order to boost worker moral

    Pros

You can get a flexible schedule as part-timer.

    Cons

Low salary and they try keeping you off their benefits. Medical Insurance is only available for part-timers over 30 hours but they try scheduling less than that.

    Advice to Management

Show you associates some appreciation when it really counts give them their benefits back and raise the salary (not just a few cents) instead of letting them wear private attire or giving them a free Donuts once every two months.

    Pros

    - You can have a rewarding job and get noticed for doing hard work, if you bring a good attitude.
    - The management is a good team and they will thank you and respect you for doing a good job.
    - There are lots of job openings, and one of the departments is usually always hiring.
    - The starting rate is $9.00/hr. for part time employees.
    - Training is paid.
    - The store gets good corporate scores.
    - You meet basically everyone there, and all the mangers. You can make friends and there's lots of possibilities for coworker referrals in the future.
    - Not a lot of micromanaging. The job role is usually the same every day.
    - They offer insurance (if you're full-time) and a 401k plan.

    Cons

    - Some coworkers, especially the part-time workers, just don't care (and nobody knows why they're still there). They damage the morale of the workplace, and other associates end up having to do their work.
    - Time management can be difficult.
    - If you're under 18, you can't work in the departments.
    - Part-timers are limited to 29 hours per week.
    - 29 hours or less per week means you don't qualify for benefits, including health insurance.

    Pros

Although the cost of benefits has risen in recent years they are still less expensive than most other companies.

    Cons

As a salaried member of management we are paid 45 hours per week and most weeks we work closer to 50 hours. With new initiatives and efforts to cut costs and labor the company is not what it used to be. We are expected to keep the same conditions with less labor and more work in an effort to be more efficient. Giant is expected to align itself labor wise with other divisions of parent company Ahold when the other divisions have lower standards of business.

    Advice to Management

Give clear direction if something needs to be changed, do not come in an give a blanket statement and not elaborate on the issues.

    Pros

Flexibility of scheduling. Whenever you needed a day off, it was never a problem. As a part-time employee, this allowed me to work throughout school and meet all of the classes I had.

    Cons

More opportunities to advance. More opportunities for pay increases. More incentives for employees.

    Pros

This job is awesome for a teenager in high school or someone looking for some cash on the side. Very easy to do and is easy to learn what to do.

    Cons

Management seems very out of whack but can be organized at times.

    Advice to Management

    Get organized!!
