    Great Consulting Internship Opportunity!

Global Metals Intern (Former Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsLearned more than any other internship opportunity I could have at my age, great management, lunches are expensed, training that carries over to multiple professions, Eligibility for hire after internship completion, excellent location, worked directly with clients, traveled with teams, great exposure, great pay for internship

ConsWould sometimes work over 8 hours to help with certain projects (including from home and on weekends)

Advice to Senior ManagementAlthough this was the first group of interns they had, If they came up with a solid internship plan on what to do and learn, it would provide more beneficial (instead of just seeing what there was to do around the office). Other than that, it was a pleasure working for you

Small but you learn a lot

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsExcellent learning experience since it is a small company

ConsLittle stability in upper management made the company shaky

Overall Gibson has been a very positive experience and provided me with excellent growth opportunities.

Senior Consultant (Current Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsGibson offers high levels of autonomy and a great deal of executive level exposure. Top perfomers have the chance to stand out immediately and are rewarded for doing so.

ConsGibson lacks many of the resources of a larger firm, and you develop yourself. When projects begin they often are understaffed and can lead to a very hectic work environment.

    Terrible place to work

    Consultant (Former Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsTravel is nice, especially opportunity for international travel. Most of the employees are young and are a fun group for the most part

ConsTerrible culture. Most people are especially negative and come off as arrogant and condescending. Management and peers will give you generic praise (e.g. "Good job this week") and then complain behind your back to others. The overall culture of the firm is to find things to be overly critical. Terrible job security as they currently only have 1 client and many projects are ending in a few months.

Advice to Senior ManagementHave a more open culture, one that promotes both positive and negative feedback instead of just negative feedback. Work harder to provide a better work life balance. Find more clients and diversify your service lines.

Positive - You make it what you want it to be

    Manager (Current Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsThe best reasons are for the international travel, autonomy to make decisions within a project, ability to influence and engage senior client level management.

ConsLimited resource bench puts significant strain on the capable leadership and project teams. This presents an interesting opportunity to manage client engagements and ensure the people on the teams don't get burned out.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire more outside senior leadership.

Gibson consulting is a great company which gives you high exposure and development

    Consultant (Former Employee)

ProsGibson consulting offers high exposure at a young age, training of the employees, and the ability to manage your work life balance.

ConsSince gibson consulting is a small firm, their are times when a new consultant will have to do more administrative work, but it is also positive because it helps give them a better understanding of the process

Advice to Senior ManagementSenior Management can gain more by giving its employees more access to online resources to grow themselves as they can sometimes be expensive
