    I have been working at Gigwalk

    Pros

    Gigwalk has a fun community, bi-weekly "show & tell" meetings where all departments report to the whole company on what is going on, food is catered in, employees do fun things together, and now we are going through some rapid growth, bringing on new employees and exciting changes.

    Cons

    In the past, many things were done on an ad-hoc basis and were not scalable. There wasn't a great process to get things done, so many things fell by the wayside. This seems to be improving.

    Great place to get hands-on experience building a technology-driven company

    I worked at Gigwalk full-time

    Pros

    * Opportunity to work with a really smart team that's transforming the way work gets done
    * Tremendous upside from disrupting the huge temporary work market with a superior product
    * Seeing users' elation when their smartphone actually pays them instead of the other way around
    * Backing from great investors (August Capital, Harrison Metal, Greylock)

    Cons

    * Some initial growing pains around finding the right product-market fit (i.e., consumer vs. enterprise)
    * Departure of founding CEO in early Q4 2012 was a challenge
    * Undisciplined hiring early on led to high employee turnover (now much improved)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    * Keep hiring A+ people and trust them to do their job

    I worked at Gigwalk full-time

    Pros

    Interesting work, good people. Company provided good working conditions, even on a start up budget.

    Cons

    Stock options were minimal (whole point of a start up, right?). CEO at the time did not care about the people. Poor vision for the future. Like most start ups, hours could be long - though not as bad as some companies. Extremely high turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Remember to care about your top talent.
