    Pros

    They do promoting from within

    Cons

It takes forever to get promotions unless you have a degree

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They should give people who are students a chance while still in school to get promoted.

Overall, it was fine for a retail job. Work can get dull on slow days & it sometimes feels like you work at a nightclub

I worked at Gilly Hicks part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

You can get 50% discount on only full priced items (limited amount). Overall, the job is easy.

    Cons

Call-ins are the worst. Work can get boring after a while. Learning everything in the beginning can be overwhelming, but you pick it up fast. But you'd be surprised how many mistakes you can make!

    Pros

Great way to meet other peers. All my coworkers were around my age (20) and we bonded

    Cons

The managers were very snobby and seemed to pick on people. Think of the popular girls in high school.

I worked at Gilly Hicks part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    -Reasonable hours
-Discounts at A&F and Hollister (good if you're into that sort of clothing?)
    -Discounts on clothing and bras

    Cons

    - Below minimum wage (8.25/hr)
    - Not allowed to wear makeup, nail polish, body jewelry, have any tattoos or what they deem as "unnatural" hair colors. So no freedom of expression
    - The store I worked at was FREEZING and we wore tiny skirts and tank tops

I worked at Gilly Hicks full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Offers a 2.5 month training period and an opportunity to gather work experience in retail management
    - "Uniform" includes flip flops and cute outfits
    - Fun music & outgoing employees

    Cons

    - Poor work-life balance with an irregular work schedule + holidays
    - Supervising part-time associates with little or no work experience, sometimes lacking a mature work ethic
    - Loud music, especially during the holidays; strong fragrance spritzed several times per day
    - Dark atmosphere encourages theft and shady returns
    - Budget cuts challenge employees to complete a multitude of daily tasks efficiently with less time and fewer hands
    - Hiring process biased towards "great looking" applicants, which means you have to look pretty/handsome before your qualifications are considered

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be so cheap. Invest in advertisements, so that people know about your brand. Also invest more time/money to properly train associates in customer service and asset protection. The board with weekly topics is not enough and not taken seriously; it is pretty cheesy.

Former Employee - Impact Team Member in Miami, FL

I worked at Gilly Hicks part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The best things about working at this job was how close it was to my school campus in Miami and the ease of the job. Nothing to worry about when you clock out, all your duties are handled on the clock so no extra stress when you get home.

    Cons

The only con of working here is if you don't speak Spanish you may have a harder time with half the customers because of the demographics of the area. A lot of people in Miami are Spanish speakers.
