I worked at Gilt Groupe part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company culture, catered lunch sometimes. Awesome employee discount. Mostly a bunch of really nice people working in Operations.

    Cons

So many part-time employees that never get hired full time because the company does not want to offer benefits.

    Advice to Management

Offer more FT opportunities to customer service reps instead of hiring so many in rounds. Gilt has a great culture and people are loyal to it, but sometimes CS reps get ignored entirely.

    Pros

    • Exciting, fast-paced environment that fits both tech and fashion cultures • Intelligent general staff • Ability to create internal opportunities and collaborate with other departments, learning encouraged

    Cons

    • Flip-side of hip culture creates sophomoric team dynamics and senior management • Direction and vision changes almost quarterly leading to waste and instability • High pressure, low rewards

I worked at Gilt Groupe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Gilt is a young, energetic company (or at least was) the push toward an IPO has seen a dramatic reduction in the party atmosphere many had grown accustomed to. The company also has a great sabbatical benefit for employees that have been with the company for more than three years. However, with the high turnover, most of the employees that have taken advantage of that perk were around in the early years of the company's inception. The discount is great, but, sadly, not like it used to be.

    Cons

Long hours. If you're one that seeks adoration and acknowledgment for your ideas and accomplishments don't look here. Managers typically take credit for your ideas. Without shame, to boot!

    Advice to Management

This is a worthless box as there is no advice management is truly willing to listen to. Culture surveys are conducted to "take the pulse" of the company which is a waste of time, because when the results come out nearly half of the participants will have been let go or will have just decided to quit. Also, the cronyism is quite rampant which makes management reluctant to change.

I worked at Gilt Groupe full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

none really, other than you get a discount off the stuff they sell but so do online customers

    Cons

You had a lot working against you in packing and you to make rate you had to make your own boxes and pack everything a certain way, always got sent home early and you couldn't go to another dept to work , you had to go home

    Advice to Management

You will need to be more people friendly and listen to what your employees tell you

I worked at Gilt Groupe full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work culture, there's always an opportunity to learn more and explore, tons of flexibility (depending on your dept).

    Cons

Your work/life balance will suffer, company still thinks it's in start up mode so your day to day can change at the drop of a dime, you will not be paid by industry standards.

    Advice to Management

Better compensation, know or have a general idea of what your employees ACTUALLY do, make sure people have the proper tools and process to succeed in their roles.

I worked at Gilt Groupe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Technologically smart and competent co-workers. Lots of opportunity and support for motivated individuals to build data driven e-commerce solutions. Offices in New York and Dublin, Ireland.

    Cons

Company is stalled waiting for an IPO. Some staff appear to be just putting in their time until they can 'cash out.' The giddy days of rapid growth are over.

    Advice to Management

A lot of 'green' managers after a cash infusion and a growth spurt need support to succeed in their new roles.

Current Employee - Customer Support in New York, NY

    Pros

decent pay, relaxed dress code, nice free treats in employee kitchen.

    Cons

Having to field Numerous complaints about the goods that Gilt provided and not being able to offer resolutions. Just google their customer reviews.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on quality customer service and not just the quantity of the calls answered.
