Great little bank that expects a lot from its people.

    Pros

Small bank with capable managment and access to capital. Layers of managment are relatively low.

    Cons

Minimal infastructure in place for commerial lenders. Much of the day to day needs of customers are put on the back of the lenders while they are also expected to grow their existing portfolio.

    Advice to Management

Increase support for commercial lenders, i.e. 1 lending assistant per officer, stream line other duties to back end support.

    Pros

There is always something to do; Glacier is a growing company that will continue to acquire new banks and add more to its portfolio.

    Cons

It is pretty evident that Glacier doesn't know how to grow effectively. Most 'C' level employees have grown up with the company or were additions through acquisition; for Glacier to effectively grow and compete in the market the executive team needs to be re-evaluated for competency. Bring in some new blood, get rid of those who drag the company down and Glacier will be a force to be reckoned with.

    Advice to Management

Bonuses are good, pay for the folks behind the curtain is not so good. Consider reworking your advancement plans to give a direct and clear path for those who want to stay with the company. Don't be afraid to train your staff and celebrate their successes, would you rather risk losing a highly qualified staff member or have a bunch of people who don't care about personal development?

    Pros

Solid company fincancially. Has not gotten so large as to have employees become a simply a number. Solid benefits. Work like balance is pretty good, although long hours are sometimes necessary

    Cons

Sometimes slow to make changes in response to industry.

    Advice to Management

Listen more to folks on the ground.

    Pros

Glacier has a good health plan, with a 401k and profit sharing for employees. Management seems to care about employees.

    Cons

Distance involved between the eleven different Banks that are under the Glacier Bancorp direction, Senior management does not get to their Banks much.

    Advice to Management

Keep in better touch with each individual bank, and try to get more aquainted with each operation.
