Great little bank that expects a lot from its people.

    Pros

Small bank with capable managment and access to capital. Layers of managment are relatively low.

    Cons

Minimal infastructure in place for commerial lenders. Much of the day to day needs of customers are put on the back of the lenders while they are also expected to grow their existing portfolio.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase support for commercial lenders, i.e. 1 lending assistant per officer, stream line other duties to back end support.

    I worked at Glacier Bancorp

    Pros

The IT office culture is very tight with the feeling of family. The perks include supervisors doing an employee appreciation day every month with events like a potato bar, smoothies, and even breakfast burritos (all made by the supervisors).

    Cons

It seems like the corporate office doesn't care for the IT department. The best analogy is that of a red headed step child, always being abused or beaten up. The banks appreciate the hard work, but the minute something breaks IT gets the beat down by upper level management, who isn't even on-site.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to what the IT department is saying. We are professionals with years of experience and a day to day finger on the pulse of the company. Disregarding the warnings is foolish at best (and is always proven to be correct by the IT department). The company might be ready for new leadership (CIO, IT Director).

    Pros

Solid company fincancially. Has not gotten so large as to have employees become a simply a number. Solid benefits. Work like balance is pretty good, although long hours are sometimes necessary

    Cons

Sometimes slow to make changes in response to industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen more to folks on the ground.

I have been working at Glacier Bancorp

    Pros

Glacier has a good health plan, with a 401k and profit sharing for employees. Management seems to care about employees.

    Cons

Distance involved between the eleven different Banks that are under the Glacier Bancorp direction, Senior management does not get to their Banks much.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep in better touch with each individual bank, and try to get more aquainted with each operation.
