    Pros

Brilliant experience lots of rotations to broaden expertise. True inclusion and diversity lived and breathed. HR lead by example on diversity and disability inclusion something few companies do. Disabled employees fully included best in class in private sector. Employees always happy to learn and build skills from others and open to employees suggestions.

    Cons

Hours could sometimes be long but flexible working helps this.

    Advice to Management

Keep focusing on the positive disability employer of choice. It's leading to great talent being hired and developed and great sense of purpose for employees.

    Pros

Some really great people at all levels, work can be interesting when it's not tied up in endless layers of governance.

    Cons

Extremely old fashioned management style. Massively complex and becoming more so. Little or no recognition for anyone. Bureaucratic and slow moving.

    Advice to Management

Clear out the dinosaurs (including the current CEO) who have spent their entire careers at GSK and hire some people who have recent experience in the outside world and have actually experienced first hand the "world class" that senior leaders constantly talk about. Liberate your staff from stifling bureaucracy and empower them with clearer decision rights. The level of staff engagement has plummeted and it's entirely down to the absence of focus on people - the "respect for people" starts and ends in the posters - what senior leaders do is entirely and very visibly not consistent with this laudable goal and pretty much everyone can see it.

    Advice to Management

improve the way you look after your employees

    Pros

My experience has been positive - good leaders, good development and opportunities, good exposure to the 'workings' of the organisation and the strategic decision-making (even when in roles that weren't senior). Fun people to work with who genuinely care about the work they do. Excellent at allowing balance of work and home commitments. However all the above is highly dependent on which part of the organisation you're in and who your senior and immediate leaders are - I've heard other people with totally different experiences.

    Cons

The organisation has lost its mojo over the past couple of years.....lots of cost-cutting and reductions, highly risk-averse approach (especially after China). The CEO, who has been universally liked and respected since coming in and who has changed the culture of the organisation for the better, has become almost invisible and is 'losing' his staff.

    Advice to Management

Get back to having dialogue with your staff. Stop being so obsessively risk-averse and allow some creativity in what/how we do things. It's not all about the money.
